Google maps says Rapid City to Mitchell is 276 mi. That will be a tedious slow go at best and very difficult with cold, wind and/or rain. Murdo looks like a good between spot for a supercharger. The Pioneer Auto museum could keep anyone busy for a couple of hours. There does not seem to be a dot on the Tesla map at Murdo even through 2015 though.

Cool. We are planning a move to Sioux Falls with our Model S. Glad to see progress. I think I see a 2016 red dot around Vivian.

The specific location is behind the Dairy Queen, near the Ramada Inn, in case there are any TMC members in the area who want to take pictures and bribe/interrogate the construction crew about where they will be headed next.

I haven't seen the site for the Rapid City, SD posted yet, but I found it online in the Rapid City building permits at Rushmore Mall.

Nice work, Wattson! Hopefully that is it - I doubt Rapid City is a hotbed of Nissan Leafs and Chevy Volts providing demand for a conventional charging station, but you never know.

Until Rapid City is connected by other Superchargers in the East-West chain, we have a new competitor for Glenwood Springs, CO as the least used Supercharger. :wink: Does anyone plan to go their soon?

Yes, it would be good to visit.

Boy-oh-boy, you would really have to plan to make it there now (talk about a lonesome soldier).
BUT in 4 months, Rapid City probably will be much easier to access and use.

Given the lack of any things between Rapid City and Mitchell, I'm wondering if the SC between the two locations won't end up being a state rest stop area. Just not much for options. Now back to the discussion on what's worse: I 80 crossing Nebraska or I90 crossing South Dakota. :wink:

As I put in other posts, my money is on Murdo, SD as the Supercharger spot in between Rapid City and Mitchell. Who knows, it could be going in right now. Not many TMC scouts out there... :wink:

Based on the other thread and the picture posted, Murdo appears to be the location where it will be.

Mitchell just showed up on my Nav after an update at the service center today x.xx.25. It is not yet on the Tesla supercharger web page so I can't confirm it is active.

The Mitchell, SD supercharger now has its own page on the Tesla site, however the map and list have not yet been updated. My guess is that they're busy updating it right now.
