That wheel might be just a 3D printed part for evaluation and presentation.

Imagine a production part will have air bags, horn, scroll wheels etc integrated.

One of the drivers said that most of the interior items were functional, but they were still working on some of the items, like a g-meter etc.

Believe this new Roadster is going to be a well sorted out street car, with huge capabilities. Imagine it will also do well on some of the track day events springing up all over the world. Take your street car to the track orgainzations are getting pretty popular.

Bet very few cars will be able to hang with this Roadster coming out of a tight corner. Top speeds going down the straight aways will blow everything away as well. Having regenerative braking will take a huge load off the physical brakes, making this thing pretty competitive with other street legal cars.

No way that the steering wheel is making it into final production. Steering wheels need to have an airbag. I don't see a place to put one in. Every car company has these cool concepts - fancy steering wheels, fancy lighting, no side view mirrors, etc. Practicality and regulations kibosh all of those quirks.

Unless a safer device is created. Perhaps, upon impact, the entire car transforms into one large inflated device protecting everyone and thing inside. Or, better yet, a force field - bouncing intruder objects away from the car.

(Airbags are sooooo 1960's)

The driver said Tesla is serious about trying to get that wheel into production

The wheel is fun when you want to enjoy a performance drive. Not like you're stuck with it. For any other use, FSD is available.
