Rigging equipment being installed for recovery vessel to lift capsule onto Go Navigator deck. Looking a bit toasty on the top. Rigging in place.
NASA really needs to upgrade the quality of their video feed. Looks like something from the 1980’s...
What you posted was the same as I was seeing on my iPad. I realize the plane video feed is low res but the feed from the ship looks pretty poor as well, in my opinion.
Someone correct me if I misheard, but I believe they said the capsule was traveling at 16 MPH before it hit the water.
Thanks. Some might think that is pretty slow, but a water impact at that speed is definitely a jolt. Of course the design of the Dragon seats and their angle at impact minimizes what the astronauts experience. If only NASA had let SpaceX go ahead with their plans for a retro-propulsive landing; that is the way a “proper” spaceship lands!
Wow, they are really being extremely cautious over the hypergol fuel vapor levels outside the capsule.
Hubby and I were talking earlier about early capsule landings and bobbing in the ocean and climbing out at sea with divers and rubber boats. So much improved for the guys and ultimately safer I would think.
How many extra boats you see, should be 3... https://twitter.com/ivan_mks63/status/1290014627087167496
Re:Frames...Said to prevent any sharp edges that might be an issue exiting. Bob and then Doug An elated Elon and Gwen and team as SpaceX mission complete. Well done everyone. Amazing restart to America back launching astronauts into space. Can’t wait to watch the post-interviews. Will these be on SpaceX or NASA tv?
