Night launch, but maybe into sunlight as the booster is still burning? This launch could be spectacular.

I just looked it up and sunrise is 5:49 AM. So 5:12 AM is a little early but it should light up at the higher altitudes. I don't know exactly how Vandenberg works for fog but I would think that the heart of summer might keep the fog at bay.

The big one to be at will be the first RTLS for Vandenberg. That will happen this year. The landing pad is ready. There just needs to be a satellite(s) that allows for it. Looking ahead there seems to be about three or four possibilities for this year.

Summer is fog season on the central coast. A warming trend forecast for the next few days tends to induce a "southerly surge" of fog from south to north along the shore, with hot inland temps drawing the fog in as hot air in the Central Valley rises. Clear days at the beach come in threes, with day four usually socked in by low stratus. And it's clear today.

Feels like this is a heavy load, and we still recover. Block 5's rule! Might it be an easy orbit?

Iridium launches are extremely heavy LEO launches. It would take a Falcon Heavy to put these satellites into a GTO. That's why they can't do a RTLS with any of the Iridiums.

Robin, are you planning to attend this launch? Not sure where you are located in CA but it sounds like you are on the central coast.

As of now my wife and I are planning on going to the launch. We don’t have to decide until a couple of days in advance, and will be checking the weather forecast. If there is a high probability of dense morning fog then we won’t go.

Can you recommend a good online resource for weather forecasts in the Lompoc area?

I'm about 160 miles north of Vandenberg on the tip of the Monterey Peninsula, but I can see launches from here when the trajectory is west or north, and the booster gains enough altitude. A useful source for Lompoc weather is:

West and North from VAFB are pretty few and far between. ;)

When WW3 hits though, you’ll have a front row seat.

Launch date has been pushed out five days. This will become the third B5 launch again. No reason given for why.

Mr. Steven is on the West Coast. So I expect they will make an attempt on this launch. Successful? Hopefully, but we'll see what happens. SpaceX and Mr. Steven have gotten closer and closer to success. This one is with dawn lighting though.

Someone else should post the webcast link for this launch since I will be out of town picking up my Tesla.

Model 3, Red, Premium (since it is the only thing avail), long range, and aero wheels. I have to pick it up in a different state because New Mexico is one of the evil dealership states.

Looks like the Monterey Peninsula will be socked in, but areas inland or to the south should stand a good chance of seeing the show tomorrow morning.
