My speculation on what happened with B1059 would be that there was some kind of heat shield failure allowing penetration. Just a guess. We'll see what SpaceX lets us know.

Did those birds come all the way from port on the ASDS? It was hundreds of miles out in the ocean. If they were kicked off from the landing it would be a long journey back to land. I suppose that after the landing was done they could head back and continue to use the ASDS as a moving base of operations though..

I thought the same thing too, but then I realized these birds float like ducks, so it isn't a big problem for them.

Upon a successful Falcon landing, I wonder at what point these seagulls vacate the platform before becoming extra crispy?
