Those photos really highlight the precarious first stage lean. Appears very pronounced when you study the engine bells and the deck clearance. Although the rocket isn't top heavy, I'd almost expect to see some means of securing that particular area. Here's another photo of a leaning Falcon rocket. Falcon was the name given to the Lunar Module by the crew of Apollo 15. They dropped a landing leg into a crater several feet deep, while the opposing leg barely touched the surface. On touchdown it actually crushed a chunk of the engine bell. The tilt was determined to be 11 degrees, only one degree away from the acceptable parameters for ascent stage performance. Another plus for SpaceX. Landings here on Earth are going to give the engineers plenty of data to prepare for landings on other worlds.
Makes you wonder if the two astronauts would have been strong enough, given the Moon's gravity, to lift the lander and correct it's tilt? Or using a lever of some kind lifting the part tilting down and positioning a rock or some other object in the crater? Do you know if this was ever discussed in the mission debrief?
~3000 passengers on that Carnival ship. Some lucky few will be on the starboard side and go ape[stuff] at the brief sailby... Some will not grasp what it is... Some will have been on the port side and be livid at having completely missed it when they eventually see this vid!I enjoyed seeing the cruise liner pass behind it. I have to guess that it was one of those unexpected big experiences for the passengers to see a rocket booster passing by.
Really shows you the scale. The booster towers over the cruise ship.
Still no videos from chase planes, yet? Perhaps there was none taken?
