Before SpaceX starts hosting people on Mars, the company may host them at a resort located at its Texas Gulf Coast spaceport.
SpaceX is advertising for a Resort Development Manager that would be responsible for building the resort in Boca Chica, Texas.
“SpaceX is committed to developing this town into a 21st century Spaceport,” the ad says. “We are looking for a talented Resort Development Manager to oversee the development of SpaceX’s first resort from inception to completion.”
This person would be responsible for “design, architecture and construction of the project,” as well as budget and permits.
SpaceX’s Boca Chica facility is currently home to development and testing of the Starship rocket that is designed to carry humans to Mars. The company recently completed a 150 meter (~500 feet) launch and land of the spaceship. SpaceX says Starship will eventually stand nearly 400 feet high and 30 feet wide. The company says the spaceship could carry as many as 100 people to Mars.
