Speaker Connectors

Has anyone figured out what the speaker connectors are? As in the physical plugs that connect the speaker wires to the speakers. Or is their an after market wiring kit for these?

I'm gearing up to swap out the OEM speakers in my 3LRD and would prefer not to cut/modify the stock wiring harnesses if possible.

have you found the connectors yet?
I came across a thread here that has all the details >> Brackets to install Aftermarket Speakers in Model 3

The problem is that they're hard to get. They're OEM connectors that are usually supplied in bulk to automakers. I managed to find most of them for sale in small quantities from various websites, but it was going to be stupidly expensive. In the end I just used pins and nails to create my own connectors.

I'm testing a lot of speakers on the upgrades

Nice. I just stuck with what I know, and installed Alpines across the board. It just meant that I had to make custom mounting solutions, but that's half the fun!

Great work.
We are testing only the mid, woofer and subwoofer.
With the correct ohm on these, changing the tweeters are not necessary
Since the A-pillar and the active satellite tweeters are too close to our ears, changing them over shines the high notes
If you noticed on our woofer, we have added a silicon rim on the 6.5". It helps t seal off the gap on the door panel, thus giving a better soild bass.
For your front panel 4", it is better to add crossover with your speakers, otherwise the front imaging will be blurred.
We managed to find all connectors from different countries, which is a nightmare.....

Hmm interesting point about the imaging. My changes have definitely made the sound brighter and much more enjoyable, but it's quality and clarity still isn't quite where I was hoping. Maybe it is an imaging issue. I might try disconnecting the tweeters and see what difference it makes. I can see now how multiple hi freq sources positioned like this have potential to interfere with each other.

I didn't change the top A-pillar / roof tweeters. I don't use immersive sound, so they do nothing in my case anyway.

Not pictured, but I also installed foam surrounding the door woofers.

From your pics, I saw the 4" Alpine with tweeters. That's going to be an issue with too bright high notes on your windscreen. Using crossover to cut off the high and low frequency will help a lot.
All Tesla sound system are tuned by B&O guys. It's not labelled because B&O doesn't supply the speaker units, it's done by a separate company so Tesla doesn't have to pay excessively.
I've worked with these engineers before, so I know what needs changing to make the system more complete
When they tuned the sound fields, the amp is the same, but they use speakers that has over 89db and bigger coils. Production speakers are less than 83db and halved the coil size. Therefore finding the speakers with the correct ohm and over 88db will bring the whole sound stage back to normal.
On Model S/X, we only need to change the 4 doors 6.5 speakers.
On Model 3, we need to change 7x 4" mid, 2x 6.5" woofer and 1x subwoofer

Since unplugging the component tweeters is free, wouldn't that be a suitable workaround?

Do you have any product recommendations for a crossover in my case? Or can you advise on appropriate cut-off frequencies?

I saw in Travis Llado's blog that the mids in the rear doors and deck output higher frequencies than the front dash, even though they're the same speakers. That made me think that the dash was already filtered appropriately. Do you have any thoughts on that? I used the same alpine 2-ways to replace these rears as well. You don't think I should filter them too, do you? I don't really hear much from the back anyway.

The signal from the amp are filtered individually for each speaker.
But when link with non-appropriate speakers, they will still respond, thus giving unnecessary pitch in different areas.
If the tweeters can be unplugged, then it will be simple.
Bass and subwoofer sound are not suppose to be directional. As long as they are not closed to your body, and the speakers are responsive.
Mid range are for focal, so their focus position must be above shoulder level. In Model 3 case, their are bounced back from front and rear glass
The tweeters are the most tricky component inside the car. If they are too bright or too closed to the listener, the whole sound stage will be muddled. Our ears are directed to where the high pitched noise are. If you are using the 2-ways to replace all the 4", that will add 7 different high pitch area around the interior. It will make a sound like a monotone but in a 360 coverage.

The workmanship of Model 3 is much better than Model S/X, dampening on the front dash is very difficult, also the doors are very solid.
My company is Radical Tuning. We have our own product line www.radical-tuning.com, but our main business is R&D for other tuning companies. For Tesla, we produced many items for EVTuning, such as HEPA filters, rear control arms, sway bar links, etc. For Model 3, we also have power upgrade tuning box, Subframe chassis ring, Titanium nut lug, coilover suspension and we are also distributor for Hansshow products in Hong Kong.
