No, the point of this thread is that Model 3 performance could possibly be upgraded by software after purchase. Tesla's statements about the EPA docs support this or it supports that the power is less than 258 HP. Take your pick.
AFAIK all Tesla said was power output was for the EPA’s test and doesn’t represent their power rating
Do you know how the EPA HP #s compare on the various S models to the Tesla ratings on them? (although if it turns out the 3 uses a PM versus induction that may not tell us anything)
In any event it's unlikely they'd significantly SW upgrade performance on the launch models as it would offer them even less "space" to offer a P3 variant in between the non-P 3 and the S models.
