[Speculation] Model 3 performance will be S/W upgraded

Listen up, boys and girls. You heard it here first.

The third quarter sales figures for Tesla are gonna SSSUUUCCCKKK. Sales of S and X will be significantly down, the stock price will dip. It'd be a good time to sell stock and buy it back lower a few days later.

And this is for the simple reason that people are holding off on buying the S and X to see how the 3 is. And at the same time, the 3 production volume isn't up to speed yet. By the 4th quarter it'll start to smooth out, but it will be impossible for the 3rd quarter to be good financial news

On their recent earnings report Tesla said that

leading up to and beyond the Model 3 launch event, "weekly net order rate for these vehicles was about 15 percent higher" than average with deliveries up 53 percent relative to the same quarter last year.

'these vehicles' being model s and model x.

Which seems to contradict your claims of people holding off.

And Tesla can indeed boost the performance of all Model 3's, it's all in the controller software.

And in the hardware. That's why only the S75 cars that had the recent HW upgrades also get the faster 0-60 times.

At this point nobody knows if the regular M3 has HW to support faster performance, or if they're saving that for the eventual P3D.

But we do know from the fact they bumped the S75 times shortly before the M3 launch that they seem pretty interested in keeping the cheapest Model S noticeably faster than the non-P M3s... so there's not a ton of room for improvement with the 3LR possible for that to remain true.
