Spontaneous Crack in Glass Roof

Could that of caused the problem? Tinting reflects the heat back into the glass.

Wouldn’t we have seen more issues on here with that? I’m in Connecticut and we’ve not had any crazy heat, it’s been maybe 65 max. This also happened overnight, so no direct sunlight.

Waiting for the part to come in, which they said was scheduled to come in last Friday. In terms of Tesla paying for my tinting and ceramic pro, I need to take it up with the service center.

Saw an early build 3 yesterday in Paso Robles. Owner was from San Diego. He said he loved the car even with some software issues and he pointed out the large crack in his roof glass. He said Tesla would be replacing the glass due to it being a manufacturing defect.

8 week old M3, saw a back panel crack, about 2 inches, no impact whatsoever on glass, wasn't sure what to think of it and 3 days later the crack extends 2, 3 feet over the whole rear panel. Disappointed, called SC ( Dedham, MA ) .... now listen to this: they don't want anything to do with it, no warranty issue (!!!) Not even helping with parts etc. Manager doesn't call back.

Your first option is probably to call the national number for service and see if they can light a fire under your Service Center. Failing that, report it through your Tesla account and request escalation. They should at least be looking at it, to determine the probable cause. There have been other failures reported on these forums, so this isn't the first that's been seen.

I noticed three tiny cracks or flaws on the top glass above the drivers door. There is nothing wrong right now and would not have noticed them if not for reading this thread. I have the car going in next week for something else so will make sure they document it.

Starting to make a steel roof seem like a better option. I have never heard of any issues like this on sunroofs and panoramic roofs.

Progressive has a $50 glass deductible option for the comprehensive coverage They'll be insuring my 3.

I have Progressive and was unaware they offered this. I'm going to get it added right away!
