Spontaneous windshield crack?

Same here , Michigan ..temp in the 30's ..Parked in garage overnight and in the morning had 3 cracks running up from the bottom of
the windshield towards the middle ..That's right , 3 separate cracks .. No evidence of any damage . I called Tesla service and they have to
see it to evaluate if warranteed .. I'll be definately upset if I have to use insurance (I have $500 deductible )

Mine cracked too. Windshield was covered in ice and snow, so I turned on the defroster, and it cracked. I have an appointment this Friday at the SC to replace it. My estimate is $1538.30(I am in MD). Insurance will cover most of it. Hoping they might call it warranty, but I doubt it. Live and learn I guess.
Insurance should cover windshields in most states. My friend's M3 is on its 3rd windshield in less than a year. He's in Florida and all covered under insurance. All replaced at Safelite. They have to order and get them from Tesla. Luckily my MX hasn't had this problem yet, although I have heard of some.
Take it to Tesla. If there is no evidence of an outside strike, it will be covered by warranty. If they can show you an outside strike, it is on you. Over $1500. Tesla needs to replace it anyway, due to the requirement to perform alignment of the cameras correctly. Plus Tesla is the only source for the part. I had one of each, less than 30 days between. I did not file an insurance claim. Even though it would have been a comprehensive claim, I did not want to lose my claim free discount.
I have an update! I took it to the shop and they didn’t find outside impact. So they will cover the cost under parts warranty!
So they replaced it and resulted more gap and flush, detachment. I am like .... you could have not even built a Lego blocks when you were little.

No not really. Some companies like CSAA only cover it if you bought the extra windshield coverage.

Hmmm, I guess, but it has not been normal for me. Maybe I am just lucky. I've had 9 cars over 40 years and never had a stress crack on a single one of them.
They fixed it again. This time manager took care of it. Also about the windshield crack- they explained the sealing/Caulking was cracked under the windshield, which caused the windshield break.

My 2018 Tesla M3 now has a "L" shaped crack a couple of feet long in the very center of the windshield. Seems to be an issue with 2018 Tesla M3's.

BTW, how long is the warranty on my Tesla M3, in case they will cover it. I bought it new in Oct of 2018. I guess I should bring it down to the shop here in Reno.
I heard somewhere that this is a common problem with the 2018 M3, makes me think it is a design flaw.

not a happy customer of Tesla we only got the Tesla more than 2 months. We just called them friday to fix the passenger seat belt , and come Saturday we found out that the wind shield got crack from the base horizontally. We didn’t use it after its been fixed Friday in our garage. Saturday evening we just found out the windshield had crack. Sunday we went to Westheiner Houston service to show them the damage. But they didn’t do anything, even to see n take a picture of the car. They said to cone back Monday. Thats not so good.

Yep! Around mid-December of 2021 a crack appeared near the lower right corner of the windshield and showed no indication of outside impact. I called a third party repair service and they confirmed absence of outside impact. He suspected manufacturers’ decent. We bought car in April of 2017.
