I don’t disagree with a lot of what you said but the only difference is Joe Rogan has an audience of millions? and he’s a “celebrity” so people treat him different than they would if he was just some guy screaming from a milk crate at the supermarket. He’s spreading dangerous information that’s been proven false by doctors and scientists. He’s putting people in danger. Yes those people can choose NOT to listen, or unsubscribe to his podcast or to Spotify itself but JR and Spotify have some sense of responsibility to not spout falsehoods that endanger people. It’s a slippery slope I know. I am NOT about cancel culture on either side of the ideological divide but we as consumers have a choice and can use that choice to demand accountability by speaking out and not patronizing a business or entity that we disagree with.
We are largely on the same side of this. Where we differ is that if people are too stupid to listen to a podcast rather than listen to Doctors and science, then let Darwin do his thing. I see your point about not wanting to support a business that allows this, but then where does it end? I'd rather people have their own choice in what they do/listen to. I don't feel it's my responsibility to protect those who make poor decisions. But I can certainly respect the fact that you do.

Fair enough. Like I said, I don't listen to Joe Rogan either, but certainly know his point of view regarding COVID. I don't agree with it at all, but I don't think that means others shouldn't be able to listen to it and form their own opinions. I don't support the Cancel Culture and try and force my beliefs on others. People 'should' be smart enough to listen and do their own research and come to their own conclusions. What I have a problem with is, "I don't like what someone says, so he shouldn't be allowed to voice his opinion", just like Neil Young has tried to do. You can tee it up as a scientific discussion, rather than political, but I think you are fooling yourself if you don't see this as a political issue. The fact that it all comes back to whether or not we believe people should be vaccinated or not (which this has certainly turned into) points to the fact this is about politics.

For the record, I'm fully vaccinated and boosted and believe that if people don't want to get vaccinated, then they should be at the end of the line for any treatment.

Regarding Kaepernick, I could care less if he took a knee or not. It's his choice. I'm not the least bit happy he's been blackballed from playing football.
We aren’t that different after all. I’m glad. Some clarification though, Neil Young took a stand and gave Spotify the opportunity to either pull Joe Rogan or he would remove his music. Spotify made a decision to keep Joe Rogan and Neil Young had the courage of his convictions to follow through and remove his music. Now we as consumers have a decision to decide whether or not we want to keep Spotify based on this or any other reason one might have. It’s economics and freedom of choice, As far as people being allowed to say anything they want I don’t know if I fully agree with. The obvious case being you can’t yell fire in a crowded movie theater. Is this the equivalent of what Joe Rogan is doing? I don’t know. It might be. I am in total agreement with you that unvaccinated peopLe should go to the back of the line when they get sick. That’s controversial to say as well. I have a friend who has tested positive for the “breast cancer” gene. She has chosen to get a radical mastectomy because if that. Her procedure was postponed indefinitely because it’s considered “non emergent” due to the hospital being overrun with COVID patients. Statistically those people are unvaccinated and more likely require hospital stays and intervention. So while some could argue Joe Rogan has the right to say what he wants and stupid people have the right to listen to him it affects others who aren’t part of the conversation. Does that mean Joe Rogan should be cancelled and banished. No! It’s way more complicated than you and I can figure out in a discussion about my options and frustration at not being able to choose Apple Music in my Tesla easily. I truly appreciate the conversation back and forth. At the end of the day we’ve solved nothing though and I have to decide if I want to cancel Spotify or not. Not an earth shattering decision. Be well.

Very well said. I appreciate the civil discussion.

Now that that’s over, I see you have FSD on your MYP. What’s your thoughts? I had it on a older Tesla. I didn’t get the value of it when I sold it to get my 2022 MY LR. Do you regret it? Find it worth it? Plan on keeping the car long enough to reap the full benefits of it?
I had it on my M3 (Stealth P) for three years. Tesla gave me $49k when I traded it in last month. (I'm sure I could have gotten more, but didn't want to take the time to deal with a sale). I mostly drive to the airport and can't say I use it a ton, but I do like it when I use it. I'm a techie and really want to see where FSD goes (I know, it's got issues and has a long way to go). So for me, it was a no-brainer and I definitely wanted it on the MY. I probably won't keep it long enough to reap the benefits (and wish I could transfer my subscription to a new Tesla), mainly because I tend to go through cars quickly. I figured if I didn't have FSD on my M3 I would have gotten quite a bit less in trade. At least that's what I tell myself to justify spending the money again.

I agree. I wish Elon would allow a one time transfer of FSD. I am paying the monthly subscription now. I like a lot of the FSD offerings. I figure I’d have a long way to go to reach $10k and now $12k. I don’t usually keep my cars all that long either. I had my last 2020 MY for a little over a year. Traded up for a 2022 with a lot of upgrades I didn’t get in my 2020. Picked this one up in November 2021 but it’s a 2022 VIN. Now it’s so close to them releasing the 4680 battery packs among other things. There’s just no winning with Tesla as far as the upgrades that pop up Willy Nilly. There’s always something new on the horizon. I made out really well with my sale of the 2020 to a third party called webuyanycarusa. I bought my 2020 MY for $52,000 due to no sales tax in NJ. Got $61,800 for it. Paid for the 2022 at the higher price and still had $5000 left over. Crazy. things have calmed down a bit now in that regard. I will probably upgrade in a few years again. If FSD is truly a done deal maybe I would spring for it and keep the car long enough to justify it. Or maybe Elon will allow it to transfer. One can hope. Be well.

Any thoughts on cancelling Spotify in light of the Joe Rogan/Neil Young situation? I would really love to cancel Spotify but without native support of Apple Music or Sirius/XM that would leave me with streaming those things via bluetooth to listen to the music and podcasts I enjoy. Tesla being so restrictive on other sources outside Spotify is annoying.

Canceled today. Took the Tidal deal of $2 for 3 months of HIFI+

Because like I said. I don’t listen to Joe Rogan but in light of Neil Young speaking out I did research about JR and realized he’s spouting things that don’t adhere to scientific and medical facts. That’s my feeling. That’s my thought process. Let me change the subject a bit and go out on a limb and say that you probably were against Colin Kaepernick taking a knee and are happy he’s been blackballed from playing football. If I’m wrong then my apologies. Do you turn a blind eye to numerous NFL players that have been accused of domestic violence, drugs, rape etc. Is that fair that someone has been prevented from playing football for non violent protest while others continue to be allowed to play that have done far worse? I’m nit looking for politician debate. I can be mind boggled that people do their “own research” as opposed to listening to actual doctors about his best to prevent and treat COVID. Thats like asking your car mechanic how to do your taxes or do a root canal. But yet when they do get COVID and inevitably go into the hospital and gladly accept medical intervention then. It’s crazy to me. Maybe not so much much to you.
Perhaps you forgot about his lovely pair of socks he wore for a national tv audience?

I've been a daily listener to Joe Rogan since the pandemic began. Joe doesn't just spout off his own opinions and is not anti-vax at all. HIs guests are actual doctors and experts in their fields. He had on Dr. Sanjay Gupta a few weeks ago to give the pro-vaccine facts, but he also challenged Dr. Gupta on some of the assumptions that have been accepted by our society. Joe's basic belief on vaccinations is that if you have any comorbidities or factors that may result in a serious or deadly outcome you would be foolish to not get a vaccine. He has said this over and over, but people just hear small soundbites from his show or from controversial guests. He has also touted many accepted treatments for COVID should you have the misfortune of catching the virus. After hearing all of his shows over the last few years, I made my own assumptions rather than allowing mob mentality or mandates to force my actions. I chose to get vaccinated and boosted. Recently, my family and I all got sick with Covid and we immediately started a treatment regimen learned from listening to MD's on Rogan's Show and we all recovered quickly. I don't see what the controversy is all about to be honest.

Here is the actual scientific community’s criticism that is driving musicians to remove themselves from Spotify, in solidarity with the message.

Joe Rogan is a clown.
