Square set up on wheels for MYP

Oh - so you can’t fit 275/35 on a 21x9.5? That’s what I meant. I get the lower front index on front wheel/tire combo. So I meant different tires on the front wheel size. 21x9.5. I thought 275/35/21 covered 9.5-10.5” plus wheels. But not my wheelhouse (pun intended… and it’s super funny too)

I don't know if you can fit the 275/35R-21 tires on the 21x9.5 wheels or if you would need at wider 21" wheel, i.e. 21x10.0 or a narrower 21" tire.

FWIW, the Performance Y is only 4,400lbs, and the weight is a nearly perfect 50/50 distribution.

So, the 98 rating of the 21" front tires is rated for 1,653lbs. If you did a square setup that would equate to 6,612lbs.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't plan to put over 2,000lbs in the car. This is (IMO) a non-issue.

The Gross Vehicle Weight doesn't account for the additional load on the tires when cornering, braking accelerating and towing. I trust the vehicle manufacturer's tire specifications.

Towing is the only scenario where I can see this being relevant. "Trust" the specifications all you want, but this shouldn't stop other people from running a square setup if they want to.

The Model 3 Performance runs 92 load index tires (1,389lbs). Yet the 3 is only 350lbs lighter than the Y. This means you only have 1,500lbs of "wiggle room" compared to 2,200lbs.

FWIW, I towed 1,500lbs on the highway (~150lb tongue weight) with a Model 3 Performance and no, my tires did not explode.

I pulled the back wheels off my model Y performance and bought two new front wheels so that I have 255/35/21 all around.

Before pulling off the back wheels I did 10 (0 to 60 runs) and average anywhere from 3.88 to 4.15. I was disappointed I couldn’t get better runs.

after putting on the Square set up I did 10 (0 to 60 runs) and got 3.55 to 3.81.

Also felt better on cornering
Where did you buy the new fronts? From Tesla?
