Squeaky Drivers seat... thoughts?

So I’ll start by saying the SC couldn’t replicate and sent me packing so I’ve taken into my own hands with limited luck.

The issue
squeaky Sound coming from the base of the seat when I accelerate and brake, from moving about in the seat I’ve been able to pin point to the right side of the seat sadly my dad in the seat whilst I listen doesn’t make any noise so I guess my “build” is a factor here but was able to replicate by applying pressure to the right bolster to mimic acceleration.

The above image is taken from the side of the drivers seat base “trim removed” the item circled in red appears to be where the noise is coming from and after some silicon spray the noise is less it isn’t gonna last for ever

Oddly the issue only happens when the seat is all the way back, move it forward and the noise is gone I’m guessing there is more pressure friction on this part/joint when seat is all the way back.

Anyone had this issue also any ideas on the best lubricants to keep this joint from drying out

Thanks
Ste

Wow, my driver seat sounds just like that! But mine seems to be coming from the left side. I’m going to take a closer look at it now, thanks for posting. As for a better lube, I would think that something with more viscosity would last longer. The problem then is getting it in the right spot.

No worries. Taken me days to pin point it, there is another joint on the other side exactly the same so hopefully that the source for you.

After some research I’m thinking something like WD40 - White Lithium Grease in the spray form may be good for this as it’s a little runny as it comes out to help “get in there” and apparently is good for metal on metal friction ?

My 2016 S has the exact same noise. Thanks a bunch for pinpointing the rivet as the source of the sound. I’ve been searching for weeks and hadn’t been able to find it.

I have noticed a few things:
1) I only hear the noise when it’s warmer - late spring/summer in Chicago. I heard it last year around the same time and then it went away in the fall/winter.
2) Silicone lubricant kind of works to stop it, briefly.
3) WD-40 doesn’t work (at least not for me)
4) White lithium grease doesn’t work (at least not for me) - you can see I tried this in the picture below

With that said, I did find something that works and it’s not a pretty solution. I wedged a putty knife in between the metal pieces the rivet is holding together. This has completely eliminated the noise.

I know that I probably should make an appt with a SC but I’m not totally confident they’ll hear it or fix it.

Maybe some "trim removed" from you might fix the problem?
