Squealing brakes when backing up (winter)

Hello all ..

My Tesla M3 makes squealing noise when backing up. I bought it in July .. and the noises began as it started to get colder here in Texas.

Do you think its normal, and other people also experience the same?

Also, does Tesla send maintenance reminders to the car screen at 1 year or whenever required?

Thanks,

Simple to fix, just bed in the pads again. Gunk and grime builds up on the pads and even more so with a Tesla as we mostly use Regen braking. Do the following:

1) Find a nice empty road without traffic. I go to a country road here.
2) Turn the regen braking to it’s lowest setting
3) Accelerate to 60-70Mph and then brake hard (just to hard enough to not trigger ABS) down to 5-10 Mph.
4) Do this 5-10 times. The goal is to heat up the brake pads and rotors to evenly distribute some of the pad material to the rotors and clean off the road grime.
5) Go for a cool down drive on the highway. This is VERY important. You do not want to go and park right after completing the above or the pads can stick to the hot rotor with the parking brake on. A good 25 mile journey at highway speeds should do it.

Don’t do this if it’s raining or snowing of course. Dry weather only.
