Staining the wood dash on the Model 3

I'm a fan of the Model 3's wood interior, but in my opinion it would look much better with a darker walnut stain like this mock up;

I came across this video, and this pretty much what I would like to do.

Has anyone else done this to their M3? If so, any tips?

Does the stain always stay glossy like that? Is it possible to get a non gloss? (I feel like my dogs hair would stick to it)
Can it handle the heat from the summer sun?

The gloss is not from the wood stain, it was another coating to protect the finish and wood.

I stained mine this weekend. It took longer than i planned to get the perfect color of stain/wood down. But I’m super happy with the results. (I do woodworking on the side - i probably wouldn’t recommend just anyone to try this at home).

What color stain was this? Do a topcoat of UV/poly?
