I think Tesla might have priced the Standard Range MY too high. 270-280 miles of rated range (which will realistically be much less than that on the highway, where it matters most) is probably not enough for a lot of people to spend $65k. Especially if you're in a part of the world where there is winter and the effective range is further reduced to 65-70% of rated range for a few months of the year.
I think most would rather wait to get the LR or spend a bit more to get the P, myself included.
