Hi guys,

So I have a Dec 2019 MY2020 Model3 SR with 16,400 miles..
Time has come to finally get a SR+ upgrade.

After weeks of back and forth with Tesla chat, local Deliver center I finally confirmed the following:

- SR/SR+ Upgrade price is $5000 + tax
- You will get discount if you bought EAP (not BAP)

No other discounts, you can't get $2000 non AP upgrade.

Today at 4:20pm I made the payment, so waiting for something to happen..
Interestingly enough my car reports

48.3kWh as Battery Full last couple days
24.6 kWh as 55% SOC, 112 miles on GUI (50.9% internally)

Interesting to see if this is going to change.

Will update this post as things happen..

UPDATE 5:08 pm Day 0:

In-App appointment I setup for this two weeks out to get Tesla attention now shows "Your car being serviced" in white after payment was made..

Update T+1:28 ( 5:48 pm Same Day ):

Ok looks like it's going to be a short thread!
In App appointment moved to completed area with the invoice attached.
Text message arrived from Tesla service asking me to e-sign the invoice.
SR/SR+ Upgrade part number is (2222223-00-A)
Autopilot is no longer available to purchase in App! And is shown as "Purchased".

UPDATE 3:

48.3 kWh as Battery Full after SR+ update (same as SR) at 16,400 miles
24.6 kWh as 50% SOC, 112 miles on GUI (50.9% internally) (SR had 55% displayed)

51.8 kWh as Battery Full (SR had on delivery date)

As to 100% SOC, App shows it will be 230-232 miles now! Before it usually was 200-203 miles max.

SR+ Update brings +30 miles..

First test drive of AP (have not driven one in 1 year) - Feels weird again, stops from 60mph to a stop light are scary :)
AP doesn't brake much right up to last dozen feet..

Engages at 18+ mph with minimal road markings, tries to take very complicated roads.

Had an interesting case of semi-phantom braking where another car was stopped diagonally on the median, and it popped on the 3D visualization for a sec, as soon as it did tesla went from 44 mph to 20 mph in 0.5 sec.. next second back to 44 mph..

I'm happy with the upgrade - will help with long range driving!

Will update after charging to 100% SOC.

Wouldn’t have been a better deal to sell the SR and get a 2021 SR+?

You have to pay sales tax..

I like my wider 235 tires instead of new 225s, love the bigger center console and old piano finish, car looks more upscale than a visible rubber mat. Love my larger frunk with very useful grocery hooks so stuff is not flying around etc etc.

UPDATE 4:

It has been about a 3 weeks and my range climbed up to 240 miles!

This is with 16,500 miles and before the upgrade I only would get 200-203 miles max. So by paying $5k for the upgrade I got +40 miles!

p.s. Autopilot is super useful even on 25 mph city streets!

This is great information. I also have an SR that I am thinking about upgrading to SR+. Did you have to pay tax on the 5k?
