State College Trip - PSU Game

I took my Model X on it's first road trip across Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh - Harrisburg - State College) for a PSU football game and wanted to provide some feedback for anyone that may be attempting this trip. First, the PA Turnpike supercharger network is very easy to use and convenient, with most of the chargers at Sheetz locations. Second, there are level 2 chargers (ChargePoint) in a parking garage at State College near the Nittany Lion Inn. The garage was $25 on game day and the charge was about $6. I was able to recharge during the game and have enough charge to get back to Harrisburg despite the mountains and heavy traffic. There is also a supercharge near State College, however, I did not need to use it.

I wanted to provide this info in case anyone was planning a similar trip and was concerned about range anxiety. Overall, it was a very smooth trip.

Energy consumption is pretty low when traffic stands still. We lost about 1% per hour when caught for several hours behind a highway accident. An important step towards reducing my wife’s range anxiety.

Consumption also low at slower speeds - less drag.

Different than ICE.

I've used the Bellefonte supercharger twice. Never full. Wendy's and Weis grocery.
