Stick on vinyl number plates

Tesla will fit what they want to fit. You don't get a say - Tesla have a one box fits all attitude.

I would take what they have then get your own made up elsewhere in the style that you want that are suitable to mount how you want.

If you request tesla to make up a set of personal plates, does anyone know if they can do it without the blue GB part on the left? I'll be looking at removing the black surround when mine arrives, much prefer the cleaner look.

When they did my set (I only ended up using the rear as I went for a stick on one for the front) there was no blue GB on them

For those not fancying ordering new plates, I read with interest in one of Jeremy's posts that the factory plates are actually metal (thanks for that JH). This means you can bend them a little and I did a de-frame this afternoon without ordering any new plates. Just some cheapy Halford double sided. I have some 3M VHB I used on my motorhome but it seemed a little drastic so this stuff will do.

Having applied stick on plates front and rear, one corner of the rear plate has come unstuck.
This is probably due to my shoddy installation but does anyone know what adhesive I could use to restick it?
It's only about 5mm that is bent up slightly but enough to bug me.

Anyone know how easy it is to take the sticky plates off? I imagine if I decide not to take up the optional final purchase, they’d want the original number plate back on. Would these plates leave a mark?

No, they won’t leave a mark. At worst you’ll have to fiddle about a bit getting glue residue off, but it wouldn’t be too onerous.

you will find it easiest if you warm it with a hairdryer or heat gun. but no not difficult

My logbook took 13 days to arrive. I called them up after a week to check as I wanted to put my reg on. If it doesn’t arrive after 10 working days give dvla a call as they can issue a new one after then.

Are there any rules about the background colour for plates?
From what I have seen they all seem to be:
Front black letters/white background
Rear black letters/yellow background

yep, thats currently the rules for modern cars - but possibly green may be an option for EV in the future

Does the rear stick OK? Bought a set of plates which I gave to the detailing shop to install. They suggested leaving the rear due to recesses behind the plate holder.

Will speak to them again once lockdown is over.

The rear has a recess, so I stuck my stick on plate over the tesla metal plate and stuck that directly to the car, still looks very slick. See page 5 of this thread for my pics white m3
