I noticed that the Model S Test Drive events take a 6-week hiatus between Mid-September and late-October. Calling the troops home for some major Model X test drive event? Please?

I noticed the Events page looked downright naked earlier this week. I'm always hoping for events local to me and/or my friends/relatives in other cities... since I don't allow test DRIVES of my car, just rides. Was pretty disappointed there wasn't hardly anything there--

--but now you have me thinking good thoughts!

Excellent observation, Cattledog! This is Mosaic Theory in action...

Another piece of the mosaic: according to Baird analyst Ben Kallo, Model X release is slated to September/October...

    Great observation...

Didn't another thread point out that Elon said a media event was coming up soon (next couple weeks)? I bet that's the reveal...

It certainly would be nice if a test drive event for both Model S and Model X was on hand during the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2014.

The October Event for the Model S was on October 1st and the registration for the Event closed on August 24th

    http://www.teslamotors.com/event/october-2011/register

There is now an Event on the calendar in late October. Assuming the lead time for a possible Model X Beta event will be roughly the same, I don't think an October Event for the Model X will happen. I hope to be wrong though. Perhaps November...

Read somewhere they are pulling everyone in who was doing these test drive events to help with Q3 deliveries. So Model X reveal might have to push out a bit.

Companies have to pay to appear and then they have to compete against other companies for press attention on the same day. It's not an efficient use of marketing money.

good point and fair enough ...

i have a feeling though tesla doesn't need to compete with anyone for press attention - the press would automatically flock to the tesla booth especially if the X was there ;-)

Right, but why pay to be there? They have better ways to spend their money. Like on the fantastic party I just know they're going to throw when my X is delivered :).

babstude - While your TMC avatar clearly qualifies you for special recognition (in my book), an invite to . . . "the party" . . . we'll have to see. Please bring your Model X & I'll bring mine!
