Store/Service/Delivery Center - Central Jersey - Lawrenceville NJ

New Jersey has the most convoluted laws next to places MA, and CA.

The whole concept of you can’t open a new type dealer because it’ll unfairly affect competition... just reeks of behind door dealing and the Mob style of mentality. We are not a communist style of government or economy, and its amazing to me that a State is stifling competition, when master mechanics will just end up working to Tesla.

Yeah, I grew up there... I paid $10,000 a year in taxes on a $318,000 house. This is all about NJ trying to screw Tesla out of its profits. Personally, I’d like to see Tesla take them to court.

I was in Cherry Hill for service ~2 weeks ago and asked about the Lawrenceville (which everyone there seems to refer to as "Princeton") location opening. My service advisor was aware of the legal restriction on sales locations or "dealerships" that Tesla is allowed to operate in NJ, and wasn't sure if Lawrenceville was going to be a sales location (taking a sales license away from an existing location?) in addition to service, or service-only. He was confident that the location would open soon because they had put hiring for the location on hold for several months, but recently re-instated hiring plans for service techs in preparation to actually open the location.

Big grain of salt with all of this given the troubled history of trying to get this site open of course, but fingers crossed.

I was at Springfield Service Center this afternoon and had a talk with one of their service specialists. According to him, Princeton center opens by the end of this month. They are recruiting now. Couple days back, on phone, another service guy had told me that they intend to start taking service appointments from mid-November at this center. Let’s see!

Great news, thank you for the update! We were hoping to have this up and running by the time we needed some routine preventative maintenance on the AC system, sunroof rails, brake cleaning, etc. - Just a bit too much for a ranger to do AFAIK. I'll wait til they've been up and running for a few months so the techs aren't as wet behind the ears ;)

The big question is still whether or not this is "just" a Service Center or whether it also hosts sales too.
