Our new Powerwall system went into storm watch mode earlier today. I was surprised to see the PWs charging from the panels AND from the grid. It makes sense, as the priority switches to charging the batteries to 100% in advance of a severe weather event.
The house continues to get power from the panels during SW charging. Since we are looking at a Flex Alert for the state from 3:00 to 10:00, I let this run for a bit (cloudy day) and then opted out at 3:00. The weather event is the remnants of hurricane Kay, coming up from Baja California. We have some wind and rain forecast, but I think following the Flex Alert guidance is more important for everyone at this point.
If the SW alert is still active after 10:00, I'll opt back in and get some cheap power.
