Storm Watch, iOS app graphic

On the Tesla iOS app, there's a section of the "Customize" screen for Powerwalls where you can enable or disable Storm Watch. Below that is a little icon of a storm cloud and a Powerwall, with some animated circles around them. As far as I can remember it looks and behaves exactly the same way regardless of the Storm Watch toggle control or whether Storm Watch is actually active. Tapping on it does nothing.

So my silly little question: Does this graphic actually do anything useful at all, or is it just eye candy?

Eye candy from a UI perspective but in the background I think it makes a call into their back end to confirm that Storm Watch status.
