Strange error message: "close console lid gently"

I can't get it to come up.

I tried closing too hard to where it doesn't close, but it still doesn't come on.

So I actually tried it this morning intentionally close the lid hard so it will pop back up. The message shows up on the 2nd closing. So somehow they have sensor to know when you open/close the lid I guess? I just wonder what is the purpose of that sensor? It seem strange to have a sensor for that.

This is likely a fix after people complained about the lid being hard to close.

So, they added a small diffused infrared proximity sensor under the lid or somewhere in the center console to detect how many times the lid was "closed too hard/fast". With a timer and a counter; lets say 5 times in three seconds is the threshold > green hint pops up on the GUI.

Any early cars likely had this sensor installed without the owner even knowing about it. OTA update and gentle hint enabled.

That's my best guess about this feature
