Such a great car... Why such crappy floor mats?

Are you satisfied with the quality of the Tesla-provided floor mats?

The quality of the supplied Tesla floor mats is terrible. They are thin and are a cheap afterthought on such a well appointed vehicle. The front mats on My brand new, Model S 90D already have started to curl at the edges of the mat closest to the seats. The Velcro that holds these mats in place is also placed too high up on the mat. If these Velcro attachments were closer to the end of the mat, the mat would be less likely to curl up. I'll probably replace with the Evanex replacements, but shouldn't need to do this with a new, luxury vehicle.

Sorry to slip this comment into the Model S sub, but just so you know - the Model X floor mats are just as bad. And since the back one is a giant 2nd/3rd row one, it's a big crumpled hunk of junk. Looking forward to the 3rd party options, once available.

The velcro solution for my Model S made things more tolerable. But still.. it's a bit of a joke. I even joked with my Model X delivery specialist at delivery. "I see they haven't done anything about the mats."

Haha, I have the velcro "solution" for my Model S too. It worked for about a month then the glue came loose and I ended up with a clump of balled-up velcro constantly under my left foot (on the drivers side). After several attempted fixes I finally gave up and ripped what was still attached out, resulting/resorting back to the original problem.

Current floor mats gotago!

just buy the weather tech mats from tesla, problems solved

The Tesla by Weathertech mats are terrible. The service center just replaced my first set due to curling and the overall fit is awful. The driver side mat is at least an inch short leaving a large catch-all gap at the rear. I've never owned anything made by Weathertech and based on this experience, I never will again. These will be in the trash bin as soon as I find an alternative.

that wasn't my experience, in fact the mats transferred from my "classic" S to a new one with zero issues.

Worst floor mats of any car I've owned. Even my 2009 Prius has a higher thread. Cars in this price category almost always have an ultra high thread count pad in the floor mat right where your heel sits on the drivers side.

I have the Tesla/Weather Tech mats for use in the winter, and a nicer set of mats for the better weather. I just changed them out since winter seems to be (finally) over here. There are several options for nice mats (and several threads on the topic with photos and opinions). What I have, and recommend for their quality and for broad range of choices, is mats by CocoMats.com. These folks have been in business a long time and make their mats (mostly) in the USA.
I had a nice set of sisal fiber mats in my last Mercedes Benz. For the Model S, I got some "Furstil 6.6" nylon mats. These are a bit pricey, but heavy, do not (yet) show any signs of curling, stay in place, and very attractive (IMHO). They can be washed, and i was able to wash off some winter salt that got on the driver's mat before I was able to buy and install the latest Tesla all-weather mats.
For some photos of the mats in my Model S, see: After-market floor mats for Tesla Model S

There are a variety of aftermarket mats available... We ordered a set for our S and have been happy with them and they are ~ 3 years old and holding up well. We will also be ordering a set for our X.

Here is a shot of the S interior mats:

I have the Tesla logo plastic mats that I assume are the Weathertech ones. Except for being overpriced I am happy with them. But I live on a dirt road and deal with lots of snow and mud so carpet type mats are hopeless in any car here. My mats are easy to take out and spray off to get rid of the mud when washing the car. That's life in the wilderness...

You can move those big discs that the mats stick to. Just unscrew and move them. No holes show at all. That solved the issue for me. But I decided in the end to go for Lloyd's Luxe. And they are luxe. I have black for the winter (in Santa Cruz...if you can call it that) and beige for the summer because she just looks so incredibly classy. They are stain treated to death and seem to be doing very well.
