Supercharger — Catoosa, OK - Near Tulsa, OK

Earth is being moved. A half dozen employees are tearing up concrete. If the picture uploads, you can see large crates with a Tesla logo, presumably the supercharger stalls. There were four such crates. I asked a worker who just smiled and said, "I cannot talk to Tesla owners, sir." We both laughed, but he reiterated, "I'm serious. They just sent out a memo." He was very friendly, and didn't try to stop me from looking around.

Interesting.... wish they had been around on Monday. I was driving an ICE - I could have just expressed interest in 'what the heck' was going on there and played dumb.

3 Google Walk minutes (.2 mi) from front of casino to Waffle House. About the same to McDs.
After a triple hash brown, scattered, chunked and smothered I need a walk!
But they're not putting it at the front of the casino. It's on the far back side a hundred yards or so from the parking garage. I wasn't able to get that in the picture. Ten minutes to McDonald's unless you jog. All of it in their parking lot.

By the way, I agree with you about the walking. And you'll need it for all the options I didn't even mention.

There's actually at least a dozen restaurants nearby. Plus probably another dozen inside the casino if memory serves. And they're quite good.

Despite the walking distance (outside or into the casino), I think this has the potential to be a very enjoyable stop, even if you don't gamble. (I don't, but I've actually had a fun evening before at this place.)

This location won't be ideal for the Oklahoma City crowd making round trips to Tulsa, as it's located east of town, and since I live in Tulsa I doubt I'll ever use it myself.

BUT if you're making a long trip along the I-44 corridor, this will be a great stop, and a potential destination to itself.

I think Tulsa is about to become a favorite stop for Tesla owners.

The location is just great for a Route 66 road trip, with future stations in Springfield and Rolla Missouri being the last major links needed for the full Chicago-to-L.A. experience. (Although the leg between Springfield and Tulsa may be a bit of a squeaker - they could use another in between.)

There's talk of one in Joplin:

Thanks for better information. I was going off the google pin. Maybe the casino will have shuttles? I'm sure they don't want folks arriving too tired to spend money :) I'm with you on the gambling and enjoy the restaurants and other amenities at these spots.
I'm a New Mexico boy and the completion of I44 will be great. We went the Topeka-Wichita route from Dayton to ABQ last month. I44 will be about three hours faster and we can go by Lambert's!
Thanks again,
John

I'm driving from Albuquerque to Southern Maine in a couple of weeks.. Looks like I will have to drive up to KC from Oklahoma City and then over to St. Louis.. unless those Southern Missouri Superchargers open really soon. Is there a fast way to drive from OKC up to St. Louis through Missouri ??
I'll post on my blog as I drive... as I have for the past 3 years.. teslaroadtrip.me

FYI, the St Charles (St Louis) SC is working now but it is worth a check before you try it. It was flaky/down from November-April. We had to use the Best Western CHAdeMO in March/April on our Dayton-ABQ trip.
Aside: I graduated from Del Norte in 69. Enjoyed your blog! We got to see the neon in Shamrock one evening.

Stalls are up! Looks like they are the "pull-through" style instead of ones you need to back into. This is about 10 minutes from my house so I will try to update again next weekend, but my guess is that it will be done by then!

Thanks for the great photos, sixvolts! My guess is that the transformer that will supply power for this site will go on a pad (yet to be poured) where the large-diameter conduit is sticking up just to the north of the equipment enclosure, near the forms for the new curb. Based on what I've seen watching other site installations online, I've learned not to get excited until I see the transformer and meter go in. The local utility often has to order the appropriate transformer, so getting it installed can be a significant rate-limiting step.
That said, I'm excited to see this one so far along! We have relatives and friends in Arizona, Texas, and Missouri, so these superchargers along I-44 are important to us personally!

Not going to speculate on specifics of what is happening, but when things go this far backward from eight set stanchions to only two and there is this much new trenching, something was evidently amiss with the construction process.

Supercharging Stations are huge investments in locating viable long-term partners, intellectual property, expensive equipment, labor and money for something that needs to function 24/7/365.
So they MUST be built correctly.

Better they catch it now and make the necessary adjustments than to have a future set of on-going problems.
