I successfully charged at it this evening and the SC speed was great. And soon after I saw this I saw 2 people charging, good to see it up for this weekend! Spread the word!
Unfortunately this is like seeing a framed house and thinking it's almost done...I will be surprised if the I95 rest stop SCs in MD are turned on before Labor Day.
Well, I was pretty close...two days to spare. But I'm grateful it's open!Ready to eat those words
Grasonville has been up for a a few weeks now. I just charged there yesterday. For some reason it does nto show on the Tesla online map, but it shows on my car nav.Lanny posted it on the Plug In Sites list.... both Aberdeen and La Vale... I wonder what's up with Grasonville after all this time, power issues?
Yeah, we discussed that in the Grasonville thread. Seems to be 100% now except for the 'Find Us' status. Must be a fluke. Excellent to see all the new SuC options coming online!Grasonville has been up for a a few weeks now. I just charged there yesterday. Dows Junction, Iowa is also in this same camp. Plugshare won't list the sites until they are shown as open on the "Find Us" status page. I've tried multiple times to alert Tesla without success. I'm beginning to wonder if there aren't other reasons besides being a "fluke."Yeah, we discussed that in the Grasonville thread. Seems to be 100% now except for the 'Find Us' status. Must be a fluke. I was about to do this for Grasonville but it showed up... did you call the Supercharging team phone number and see what they have to say? They probably don't care as long as it's on the Nav, though.Dows Junction, Iowa is also in this same camp. Plugshare won't list the sites until they are shown as open on the "Find Us" status page. Charged at Aberdeen Saturday night. The rest stop is smaller but similar to Newark. The biggest advantage for Newark being the external Starbucks with sandwiches, so close to the chargers. Either way, great to have additional options and capacity.how do the facilities compare to Newark?
Has anyone who has stopped here successfully gotten more than 80 kW? That's been my max charging rate both times we plugged in there this weekend.
Battery was roughly 20% full to start yesterday, and maybe 40% friday. Neither time did I get more than 80 kW.
Well, glass half full, could have been 38 kW at a CHAdeMO station that cost $11 for barely 50 miles and shuts off in 30 minutes (if it works at all)...
Most likely culprit for low charging power is a cold (or too hot) battery, and without a battery temperature indicator we are left guessing.
The other culprit is apparently utilities can curtail power use at the superchargers and once again we are left guessing.
Tesla can at least solve the guessing part by providing us with more information as to the limits and performance of the car and the station.
