Supercharger access immediately after delivery

Apologies if this has been asked before, however I looked for several variants of the title and was unable to find it.

Considering that Model 3 will, most likely, not be delivered with a full charge, and I'll be driving it about 450 km (280 mi), supercharger access is critical.

Could someone please confirm that after taking possession, one can drive directly to a supercharger and use it?

I am planning on using the Model 3's built-in navigation and allow it to direct me to whenever it needs to supercharge.

I also suggest that you ask ahead of time to please have your car charged up to 90% at delivery. Actually you can ask for any amount you want. They went ahead and had our Model S charged to 100%, but 90% would have been more than enough to get us to our first stop on the 1,200 mile overnight trip home from delivery.

I was with my sister when she picked up her Model 3 in Fremont & before heading out on a roadtrip down to her place in So Cal, I made sure her car could supercharge. It did, no problems. That was within an hour of delivery.

Be sure to test it when you pick up your car - that way when you head out into the wild, you won't worry about it.

Not sure about Model 3, but when I picked up my Model X, I immediately drove it down to San Diego, and Supercharged all the way.

I was worried how everything worked, but it could not have been simpler. Just put in my destination, and touched Navigate. It showed all the Superchargers along the way that I should stop at, and how long I should charge to get enough juice to reach the next one, with the reserve included.

In the beginning I tended to charge a little bit more than necessary, but with some experience I have begun to trust the computer even more.

Only skill needed was to be able to back into the charging stalls to plug in. The back up camera has white lines included to guide you, once you get faith in their accuracy.

That was a year ago. There are about 3 times as many chargers now, along the same route :)

You are going to flat out love the Autopilot once it gets some miles on it and is fully calibrated it will activate. Took mine a couple hundred miles.

Enjoy your new journeys.

I'm planning on driving from Toronto to Old Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix.
The Kingston SC is my halfway point.

How do I pay for this battery charge at the SC station?
I'm uncertain what the protocol is.
You should have a credit card already linked to your Tesla account, the one you used to put down your order deposit. This card will be billed for supercharging fees.

This may not be applicable in my situation. Many people are picking up their Model 3s at the International Centre in Toronto and as far as I know, there is no supercharger handy there for cars to be charged to a pre-determined level prior to pickup. As far as I know, there will be hundreds of cars delivered there.

They likely have chargers besides superchargers available. Service centers are actually not a great place to have superchargers, if a car is going to be there hours and they want to charge it a HCWC(high capacity wall charger) is a more likely solution.

Came here to say this...definitely ask them to ensure it's topped up to 90 or 95% charge so you can safely go home. People have requested that before in the states and they're more than willing. @1Step2NoGas

I am planning a trip from Toronto to Miami the day I pick up my model 3. Can't wait for the adventure!!

Cheers

One of my friends is getting his Model 3 in Miami on the 7th. I'm getting mine on the 5th here. Was thinking of doing a road trip to Miami to have our Model 3s "meet" sometime this summer. LOL

When I picked up my car, it had been charging on it's own included charger cord. They were doing this to check that everything was charging correctly, including the cord.

You can request that your car be charged to a certain level, prior to delivery, but a busy delivery center may not be able to accomplish that due to the number of cars being delivered and the limited number of charger plugs being available.

They had me plug and unplug my cable as part of the delivery process.

When I picked up my Tesla I had lots of questions and concerns. By the time I got home everything became very clear.
