Supercharger - Akureyri, Iceland

We tried scouting out locations for Tesla's new v3 Supercharger in Akureyri, Iceland last Wednesday. We thought a good location would be at the Glerártorg shopping center but didn't notice anything. We checked out a few other locations but didn't have any luck. The next day, Thorleifur Kr Níelsson posted a picture on the Tesla Iceland Facebook group showing he found signs of construction. We're waiting to hear back on the exact location, @MarcoRP

I was just about to click "add" on supercharge.info until I noticed the concrete bases were not the usual oval design seen with Tesla stalls. Is it possible these belong to another network?

Anything is possible but I didn't see any other charging stations in Iceland that were separate like Tesla's Supercharger stalls. The ON chargers and other networks all had the big 'boxes' that had the cables connected directly to them (see below). Also, no other charging location in the country had more than 6 plugs...which really meant being able to charge 3 cars at once. It looks like this location will have 8 individual stalls which points even more to it being Tesla.

We did hear a rumor Friday and again on Sunday that the Tesla charging equipment arrived damaged and they are supposedly waiting for a new shipment from the US.

Someone in the thread mentioned Norðurtorg. From the included image, it looks like the coordinates will be approximately 65.697459, -18.139402

It looks to be a newly paved lot and possibly a new business close to Rúmfatalagerin, which looks kind of like an IKEA. The nearby street view just to the west has several features that match the image: Google Maps

@Chuq and @MarcoRP , did you see more photos have been posted to the thread on Facebook? One of them shows the equipment has "Tesla Motors Iceland" on the label, so I think this is enough to prove it's the new Tesla Supercharger site and should be added to the map.

Yep, 100%!

It will be interesting to see the stall layout. Outside of the US it's common for newer V3 sites to be in multiples of 3 stalls. It looks like 8 concrete mounts here so far, so I've listed it as an 8 stall.

Another update from the Facebook thread yesterday. They have been working on the foundation for the transformer. The transformer (pictured above) looks similar to the one they have at Staðarskáli.

Interesting layout.. are those charging posts in the centre of the spaces? Or is it just an optical illusion and they've extended the new bitumen a significant distance outside the parking space?

That's what it looks like. Possibly to allow for towing? The Cybertruck will be very popular in Iceland, as will the Model Y

Hello,
It appears that the parking spots now have painted lines to indicate the intended orientation of vehicles. However it seems that the actual charging units have now been covered. Maybe Tesla expects longer than anticipated delay?
