Supercharger - Arlington, WA

Hunted around Marysville and Arlington for about an hour today and finally found it at Angel of the Winds Casino. It is on the outer edge of the casino parking lot near the gas pumps. There are 16 charging spaces, 14 back-in and 2 pull-in. All of them have signs saying Tesla vehicle charging only.

The bollards and charge cables as well as the signage are all complete, but the bollards are not yet numbered. The enclosure looked complete but had padlocks on it and I could not see what was inside. There is a transformer near the enclosure but there is also another concrete pad that is empty. My thought was that the other transformer may have already been there for another purpose and the empty pad is awaiting a transformer for the supercharger, but that is just a guess.

I took a lot of pics but I cannot easily upload them right now and I am busy with work for the next few hours. I will post them as soon as I can, which will probably be some time on Sunday.

This location is a 2-mile diversion from I-5 (one way, so 4 miles total) and is closer to Burlington than I would have expected. This casino has had destination chargers for a while now despite their clientele not being typical of Tesla drivers. I'm guessing someone in a position of power at the casino either drives a Tesla or is just very pro-EV so this is just a case of Tesla taking advantage of an eager partner with a location near a major freeway and getting a large supercharger installed with relatively little hassle.

Amazing! Thanks for checking out the rumor. When they said at a new casino, I assumed it would be near I-5. Still, 16 stalls is huge. 1/2 way between Burlington and Monroe is a decent location, even with the diversion off of the freeway.

The precise location is just to the northwest of the intersection of 238th St. NE and 35th Dr. NE., just south of the small gas station. The gas station is visible on Google Maps only in satellite view.

When looking at the Google Maps satellite view, I also noticed that the transformer that you can see in my pics is in the Google satellite pic (which was probably taken anywhere from a few months to a few years ago). The enclosure and the other concrete pad (and of course the bollards) are not visible so they are clearly new. It definitely appears that we are waiting for a new transformer to go on the empty concrete pad next to the enclosure which you can also see in the picture above.

Native American Reservations are able to secure quick permit approvals and often have new electric facilities to offer prospective SCs. This is ideal. The Salamanca Reservation on I-86 in western NY comes instantly to mind ( Big Hint !! ).

2 mile diversion from highway itself is not an issue as long as it is easy access with a not a lot stop and go traffic.

I find the ones in the malls to be most stressful, even if it is just off the highway.

There shouldn't be any significant traffic. Might be some minor slowdowns on Friday/Saturday night or other big casino nights like New Year's Eve but that's about it. It feels like it is further off the highway than 2 miles though, probably because the road cuts through tall evergreens.

Tesla does have plans for others in the Seattle, WA area, but even so, Arlington, WA will be very useful, because it means it's only a 129 mile gap from Centralia, WA instead of 151 miles*. Once this is open it'll just be Manteca, CA to Corning, CA that needs splitting** to make the biggest gap on I-5 less than 150 miles.

Exactly, 2, 3, or 4 miles may not be a big deal if conditions are fast. The one in Twin Falls Idaho is about 4 miles off the highway, but it's really quick because it's light traffic, two lanes each way, only one intersection with stop light, and 60mph speed limit, so it's a quick four or five minutes.

Wow, that's amazing how fast it went up. I was at the Angle of the Winds on Wednesday, June 7th - 12 days ago) and there was no sign of any construction. Maybe I missed it, but I drove right next to that area of the parking lot and I think I would have noticed it.

BTW - the pub they have in the casino has some really great food! Only bummer is it is a bit smokey in the pub from all the cigarette smoke in the casino. I usually get some food at the pub for lunch and get to go. I'll eat outside or at the nearby worksite I at which is very close to the casino.

WooHoo! IF I end up getting a M3 with my TSLA gains (rather than pay off the condo) this will be much better than Burlington which is too close to Bellingham to really be of any use to me. With the Peninsula build out that only leaves somewhere further along Hwy 20 to meet all my wishlist needs.

The Twin Falls diversion is pretty annoying to me when I'm trying to eat up time on 80mph freeways! But like I've said before, beggars can't be choosers when it comes to superchargers!

I don't think Tesla can build the network in a way that forces people to take the ferry. The distance by road gives an idea of the need to split the gap.

I'm not sure what you mean by that, but if you are concerned about the cost of the ferry, it should be noted that driving Sequim to Arlington over the Narrows Bridge incurs a toll as well.

Yup. The only way to avoid extra fees would be to go down through Olympia and there will be a Supercharger there soon enough.
