Just noticed a new pin on the map. Perhaps these are temporary for the holiday weekend?

Interesting location considering the expansion happening elsewhere in Barstow.

I can think of two logical explanations:

1) Since these are temporary, they were planned to take the load off the main site until the Barstow V3 opened... except the V3 opened sooner than expected.

2) This is designed for people who pass Yermo (heading west) with the thought that "I can make it to the Barstow V3, and start charging at a lower SOC, and charge faster" and then have an "oh *sugar* I'm not going to make it" epiphany on the way.

I thought maybe these were more permanent given the pin on Tesla Find Us map but now I think I agree these look more temporary than similar setups I've seen with hard conduit feeding pallet style urban chargers.

I charged there today after stopping at Dutch Bros down the street at wife's request. Just needed a little pad to make it back to Rancho in case.

I like the location. It's great access to go from to I-40 W and E ramps. Even going from I-15 S, exit, down two blocks, to the charger then back into I-40W to I-15S, I feel it's still better than going to Barstow V2. I just really dislike driving through that area where the V2s are. The bad is there are no restrooms nearby, the mall is largely deserted and now home to some government buildings, dumpster diver and passing vagrants.

By myself I would stop here, but with wife and kids.... maybe not. My wife was with me this time around 6pm, with no other cars and no other patrons in the mall, she didn't like it at all.

I'll be coming through here again next month to Albuquerque, but with wife and kid so I'll probably go to Barstow V3 or V2.

As others have said, I feel this might disappear soon. I certainly would not have stopped except for a quick top up... And those in the I.E. might do so as well, For those living in LA proper or OC, they might choose their top ups at Hesperia or down at Rancho.
