Thank you mociaf9 for the detailed update. It would be nice to have one off Rt 78.
The permit has been approved and is available for pickup. Construction can officially start.
I emailed the office who owns/operates this location where they connected me to a Tesla representative a few weeks ago. At that time they indicated that construction will begin as soon as the permit is approved, so I guess this will get underway very soon, I can’t charge at home(apartment) so this will be the best thing that will probably happen to me this year(hopefully)
Unfortunately the permit hasn't been picked up yet, so don't get too excited. I suggest you give the construction company a call to see if you can push them.
Where do you normally charge? There are 2 J-1772 chargers at the Old Mill Inn that is always empty, and you can get food at the Grain House while waiting.
I don’t think they will come running as soon as it is ready for pickup so I won’t discount it just as yet.
I charge close to NYC where I park and with the Parsippany supercharger going live earlier last week that’s an option too. I usually camp out in Warren at a $1/hr SemaConnect(next to the senior living center off 78) and have a family member pick me up/drop while the car charges, the businesses appear to be closed over the weekend so I don’t think I am pissing anyone off, it’s a 20mi/hr J1772 but something is better than nothing.
I emailed the Tesla north east regional deployment manager for an updated status, if I get a positive response I will post here
Per Tesla, Someone will be picking up the permit today, they intend to mobilize this week or the next I was not provided a completion ETA, assuming maybe a month(or few)
For comparison, Rockaway took approx 4 months after they began construction and Parsippany took approx 3 months, they could be delayed for unrelated reasons, but I guess this will be completed later in the summer(assuming they start digging soon)
Aaaaaand the cones are out!! Same spot as someone originally posted, in the corner where a bank was..
Some more pics, I hit post reply before all were uploaded
Fence is up today
Basking Ridge, NJ
US Numbered Highways: None
From: Phillipsburg, NJ (Permit) - 35.1 miles
To: Jersey City, PA - 30.1 miles
Diversion: 2.4 miles
From: Allentown, PA - 63.2 miles
To: End (Canal St, New York City, NY) - 32.4 miles
Together with Phillipsburg, NJ (Permit), this will hepl make travel along I-78 more flexible.
Tesla is really cutting the gaps on Interstates in the east.
Phillipsburg NJ had its permit in place since Feb 2018 and as of last month, not a shovels worth of dirt has been turned. I wouldn't factor this into any equation for a while
Work is progressing, there are workers on site today(and were there yesterday), i’ll post updates if there is significant progress
can someone confirm that this is going to be V3?
It won't be.
Progress report: Vehicles of mass destruction
With that tiny Kubota? More like vehicles of lawn destruction. But it’ll do.
That no trespassing sign was likely designed by a lawyer?
I havent been to the site yet, but the photos are promising. Also, I checked the permit and they are making good progress with inspections
Work is progressing, supercharger cabinets are on site
