My suspicion, as I think some others have alluded to, is that the Voting Map is less about letting the public actually pick new locations, and more about gauging interest for locations that are already in early talks, to help fast-track or convince the host to help remove hurdles in the permitting/approval process.Interestingly, this location was NOT on the Supercharger Vote map. Flying under the radar, but obviously the host location has been in the works for a while if they listed it as a Q2/23 Target.
Since I don’t expect, Flying J, Kwik Trip or Walmart to be a host. Hopefully it’s not the nearby Casino 4 miles east of the interstate. That leaves a local Hotel/motel or the Culvers as my front runners.
FWIW, Kwik Trip was approached by Tesla a couple years ago. They ( the family that owns them All ) did not go for the Sales pitch. Saying their business model is for customers to get in and get out quickly. Which may true. But I believe they are being very short sighted about the benefits of customers staying a little longer and most likely spending money in the stores. All the likely choices are off exit 116, WI 54.
Culver's is my guess. Kwik Trip is also a possibility. I think EVgo is more likely to go into Flying J with the deal announced between EVgo, Pilot Flying J, and GM this year. There is also a Walmart that is more likely to host EA.
This would fill the longest gap between superchargers currently present on the Minneapolis to Chicago route going via Rockford (Eau Claire to Tomah, about 74 miles). However, it is about twice as far to Eau Claire as it is to Tomah, so I think Black River Falls plus Osseo would be a possibility, since that would cut the gap into three segments somewhat evenly.
Kwik Trip is an oddball. Their "Electric vehicle charging stations" that are just a 120v outlet on a lamp post are all too common and seem like some sort of bad joke. My guess is there are some weird personal anti-EV sentiments that they hold. Just speculating though.FWIW, Kwik Trip was approached by Tesla a couple years ago. Just found out today via an article in the WI state Journal. The co-founder and current CEO of Kwik Trip will be stepping down as of JAN/ 1/ 23. His Son will be taking on the position. The son is a doctor and general surgeon at Mayo Clinic. Perhaps with New blood in the CEO position they will be more open to the future of transportation and for needs those customers.Kwik Trip is an oddball. I would think that if the goal is to replace the existing supercharger in the same area, there is a large Target store near Oakwood Mall that would do nicely.it’s closer to I-94. How far is Woodman’s from WI 29?FWIW, Kwik Trip was approached by Tesla a couple years ago. They ( the family that owns them All ) did not go for the Sales pitch. I don’t see much benefit for putting another location at Osseo other than east to west travel via US 10. I-90/94 is pretty well covered with the addition of BRF. They really need to upgrade La Crosse though. There is a Woodman’s within a mile of the current location that would be an ideal location for a 12 stall if the pursued it. I’d also like to see Eau Claire upgraded or a new site added to the Woodman’s off US 53 ( 3 miles north of current location).
They also need to put a splitter on I-39 around Coloma, WI
Per MarcoRP, this will be an 11 stall site. There is a Billboard in the middle of the grass island preventing a 12th space.

Per MarcoRP, His (Preliminary) intel indicates the location to be:
Culver’s
925 Commerce st.
Black River Falls, WI 54615
He is still gathering site specific info.

Not really, people would rather sit in the drive thru 10-20 minutes at Culvers rather than go inside. It’s crazy. The wife and I stopped at a Culvers last August to eat inside. There were 4 tables in use, meanwhile the drive-thru line was 10 cars deep and 5 vehicles waiting for orders. That's ~20% of the parking lot being taken up by charging spots. I'm guessing these are going to get ICED frequently.
