Supercharger - Buena Park, CA (removed from car nav 31 Aug 2018 but still operational, 8 V2 stalls)

Here is a May 17th, 2016 photo update. Palm tree stump removal is the first step to get the electrical lines installed toward the front of the Buena Park location. It is hinted that the Superchargers would be at the front parking spots by the lawn. We will need to wait for more construction to be sure if they will be on the south side (as pictured) or west side as shown in previous posts. Looks like a new refreshed red Model S is waiting for a charge. Lighting would be excellent in the front. Santa Ana Freeway is in the background behind the fence.

With a used Tesla sales lot nearby, those charging their vehicles could be both customers and sales "advisors" as questions are answered for visitors 24/7.

That is probably the construction cost only. With all the hardware including the distribution cabinets, supercharger cabinets, and pedestals, it would probably be around $200k.

Hmmm. Your explanation makes sense, but then again, does it? Since when does a construction cost not take into consideration the actual materials incorporated into the construction? Maybe they consider the pedestals as a separate entity or something. I don't know. Everything here is permanently installed. Maybe the cost went down considerably somehow.

This is one of the low number of Superchargers that are on Tesla Motors property rather than private property that Tesla must negotiate permissions. Perhaps that explains the difference in cost.

Not including hardware into the installations cost is not likely.

Construction took a major step forward as the Edison electric vault was delivered and lowered into place. Enjoy all the photos and video from May 20, 2016.

One of the Tesla Product Specialists verified that the 8 charge spots would be at the front by the grass and palms next to the street.

Construction costs and permit values usually do not match. The permit fee and the property tax increase are based upon the reported value on the permit. The city sends the county assessor a copy of the permit and the property tax valuation go up by that amount. So guess what, most permits have a valuation lower than actual construction costs. Usually the city does not question the permit value reported by the applicant. As a California architect we see this all the time.

Tesla does not announce SC opening dates in advance. It could be a few weeks, it could be months. There could be delays in inspection sign offs. There could be delays for other reasons. However, because this SC is being built at an existing Tesla location, my guess is that it will go fairly smoothly, and best case it could open by the end of June.

Thats great news! I am picking up my Model S around the first week of June so this will be perfect for my weekend getaways!

Jason, my post was not "news" it was speculation. Don't assume that the Buena Park SC will be open in June. I said that my "guess" was that "best case" it "could be open by the end of June. It may well not be open that soon.

By the way, what is an electric vault? same as a transformer?

The vault is the electrical nexus over which the utility transformer will be installed. The wiring from the power company and the Superchargers will lead to the vault and be connected to the transformer.

I was just there over the weekend. I had to drop my MS off for service. Last Friday, they seem to be wrapping up the trenching work shown in one of the pictures above. By Saturday, they have completed.

According to the Service guys, the next step is to work on the individual stall for the charging station. They expect it to be complete either end of June / July timeframe.
