Supercharger - Charlotte, NC - Providence Rd

Yesterday, found this Supercharger under construction less than two weeks, I think. It's in the back parking lot of the The Fresh Market (groceries) at I-485 and Providence Road. Address is 10828 Providence Rd, Charlotte, NC 28277. Twelve pedestals.
When in the area, say "hello" to Mark, The Fresh Market manager. He hopes this supercharger will help bring more business to this "hidden area" of the shopping center. Very nice store.

Nice find

Weird location to me. Seeing how close Toringdon Way. Understand the difference between v2 and v3, but not really spaced out at all. I would have gone with Matthews instead so you can get some US-74 traffic as well as I-485. But at this point who cares! There are so many chargers out there I don't think them adding chargers in one location hurts their focus on adding chargers in another area. Most of the problem areas have been resolved or in the process of being resolved.

This area of CLT suburbs is affluent with many Tesla’s around. The Toringdon Way SuC is also usually packed, hence why Tesla just implemented time of use rates at Toringdon Way. We will and have been seeing many new SuC everywhere these days as more and more people buy Tesla’s.

Same thoughts I was having.

Seems like a US-74 Matthews location is a better choice - perhaps at the Target store on Independence Blvd US-74. The store has a nice, seldom-used parking area on the left, suitable for a supercharger.

If you are taking US-74 I can't imagine you would take it straight through downtown CLT but instead would take the 485 loop around the city (where this and Toringdon Way SuC are). Even if you did decide to take it straight through downtown, there is the new Charlotte - Metropolitan Ave, NC SuC in permit phase that is supposed to be completed by EOY.

No but it's more centrally located. If you're taking I-74 to the beach. If it was on I-74 you could go either way around I-485. Just weird to be so close to Ballantyne. Yes there are differences between v2 and v3 but they're really only a few miles apart. The only thing I can really think of is if this is helping those that live in something like Rea Farms where you don't have access to chargers. Again doesn't matter because there are so many options, just an odd choice.

From near the intersection of US-74 & I-485, if heading to I-85 S, I use the US-74 W route that goes straight through the city to I-85. Alternatively, traveling on the I-485 inner loop toward I-85 S yields the same trip time; however, the US-74 route is four to five miles shorter, and with lower speeds, it uses less charge.

Yes, as I said in the post you quoted there is the new Charlotte - Metropolitan Ave, NC SuC in permit phase that is supposed to be completed by EOY (blue dot). That is right off US-74W so either route you take, there is/will be a SuC.

Heck yeah, I like this location! The v2 down the road is always pretty full (and slow!). Stalls 1A and 1B seem to not run at optimal rates so the site has even less flow/bandwidth/throughput then would be expected.

What's weird is that is there going to be another SuC location coming to Matthews in Q2 2023? That quite the SuC density on the south side of Charlotte.
