Great find by bhuwan. Hopefully the moderator will move the thread to New England since it was created in the MId-Atlantic section. I looked for more information in the Newton and Brookline town web sites without any luck. Looks like Tesla sneaked one past us!! Google Maps supercharge.info
I stopped by today and it looks like it will be a supercharger. Pretty excited since it’s just down the street from me
I'm super happy about this as well -- it's right between where I live and where I work. What's weird about this is that for a long time google maps listed this location as a supercharger station to the point that it has a negative review of "not a supercharger station" This won't be confusing at all...
Sorry, I just saw this thread. I just noticed the permits, and they are from 6/8/2018 (yes, 2018!) The permit number is 18060751 Having said that, there has been activity recently: TYPE NUM INSPECTOR SCHED DATE INSP DATE INSP TIME RES CONFIRM NOTES ELECTRICAL TRENCH INSPECTION 1 BMD 08-21-2019 08-21-2019 P 247488 0 MEETING INSP REVIEW 1 BMD 08-12-2019 08-12-2019 N 247005 0 Permit details: TESLA SUPERCHARGING STATION LOCATED IN PARKING LOT OF PROPERTY. (3 SETS OF 4W) TOTAL CAPACITY IS 855A I was there (well close by) and from a distance, it appears that there has been no further movement.
Looks like they've been doing a lot of digging at the construction site, probably conduit is going in. I wonder how long until it is open.... Soon I imagine!
Giant piles of dirt on site, but there are also wood forms for the curbs for the supercharger stands. I stand by my Oct 10 timeline. I decline to say which year.
Can you please set the discussion link in supercharge.info to this thread? The one currently there is in the wrong forum and seems abandoned. @BlueShift @Chuq @MarcoRP
The giant piles of dirt are gone and the footings for the chargers are done. I expect sometime in the next 3 weeks, well before the initial deadline of Oct 10 2020, this station will be online.
Found the Tesla plans through the earlier Newton permit link: http://apps.newtonma.gov/apps/test/p/18060751/Plans.pdf. Fun reading if you really want to know the details of how a supercharger is connected. Looks like 8 standard V2 150 kW pedestals, in a nice little isolated parking area:
I assumed it will be urban, just like the superchargers in Boston and Cambridge. There goes my plan to shop at Wegmans while charging at this supercharger. Also, I'm surprised Tesla actually calls this location Chestnut Hill instead of Newton.
I assume they're just following the retail lead - you've got "The shops at Chestnut Hill" on one side and "The Street Chestnut Hill" on the other. Even the Wegmans across the street uses a Chestnut Hill address. Heck - condos in that area use Chestnut Hill even if you can't even see the hill!
