gmo43 located a permit for a new supercharger in Chicago. The location is "New City", a new apartment / retail development at 1457 North Halsted Street. Electrical wiring permit number 100733296, for "TESLA SUPERCHARGING STATION ELECTRICAL SERVICE, FEEDER, AND CIRCUITS" was issued on November 10th. The Chicago permits database is here - I couldn't find any additional information. 1457 Halsted Street, Chicago IL 60642
I drove up and down the 6 or 7 levels today; all the way to the top. I didn't see anything obvious as far as equipment or Tesla-branded gear. It'll be a great location once it's up though. Tons of things in the area and pretty liberal validation policies.
Unconfirmed, but there may be some action on the 6th and 7th floors. I will check again in the upcoming weeks
Went by today, Wednesday May 29th and crews were working on the electricity cables as a prep before the Tesla crew gets there. There are going to be 10 urban super chargers on the roof (7th floor) of the Mariano’s/New City parking structure.
It is officially still in permit stage, so Tesla has not started construction yet as far as I know. You should be able to keep an eye on it’s status on
Electrical cabinets on the roof and what appears to be blue tape markings for the location of the chargers.
Thinking about it, most superchargers are outside. And the farthest location in the parking structure limits gas engine cars to take the spots. I might use this location, with Marianos parking validation, it should be convenient.
Doesn’t look like any progress has been made since the pictures were taken. Went by on July 10th and it still looked the same as on the June 26th pictures.
Stopped by on July 16, and the electrical cabinets were being wired inside the room adjacent to the outside charging area.
Stopped by on Monday. They were starting to run wire from the internal electrical cabinets to each of the charger locations. There was no sign of Tesla marked equipment yet.
Just noticed this went live on the Tesla site - slightly different name! Live on supercharge.info too.
