Supercharger - Chula Vista, CA (LIVE 4 Aug 2020, 16 V3 stalls)

Miimura... do you think SDGE will size the transformer for the full 16 X 250kw stalls or will they size for the initial 12? I ask the question because all of the San Diego Supercharging locations have been suffering from reduced output recently and with the first instance of V3, the expectation there should be good performance above 117kw V2. What size transformer for a 12 or 16 V3 stalls?
Each V3 cabinet can only draw 350kVA from the gird. They are interconnected with a DC bus that can move up to 575kW in or out of a given cabinet to reduce throttling as long as all stalls are not occupied and asking for high power. So, 16 stalls can only draw 1400kVA. 2500kVA transformers are very common, so that would be my bet.

Here is a copy of a photo taken of the cabinet rating label at the recently installed V3 site in Scotts Valley, CA.

Edit: why can't I insert the full image after attaching???

They added some red tape to the poles and pedestal bases so people can see them better when maneuvering around the parking area but there has been zero construction progress since early November. There are an increasing number of new constructions SuC sites waiting on V3 equipment to arrive.... but I would also venture to guess that Tesla is also in a race for the best locations/sites against Electrify America (EA) and having secured these partially completed sites essentially locks EA out for the time being. Hopefully this site gets moving again and not drag on for several more months.

Over 3 months since the pedestals, conduit and cabinets were initially installed; 4 months with no construction around the corner in early March. San Diego is getting busy and could use some Supercharger relief. #1 in the US....

Quite amazing as Friars Rd is a 72 kW site, but perhaps that consistency is what gives it high discharge rates.

I was across from Hopewell Hong Kong about a month ago, I really wanted to check out that SuC as it's always on the top 10. but had no time to hunt it down in the parking structure.

Covers on the pedestals are zip-tied in place, so the workers are still wiring them up. The transformer pad is empty but that will be done last. Stall line markers and the disabled stall need to be painted and wheels stops installed. Rain is forecasted for the entire week so we will probably lose another week on this project. Lets hope it is completed before it is influenced by the corona effect.
