This is exciting news. It appears construction has started on a charging station on the fifth floor of the parking garage located west of Macy’s and south of Firestone in the Serramonte Center. There are already a few J-1772 Volta branded charging stations on the ground floor. I was able to verbally confirm with the electricians that these would be Tesla chargers, but they were unclear if these would be Superchargers or Urban Chargers. The chargers are to be located closest to Callan Blvd., per the electricians, and construction to be completed by end of Aug/ early September. I was unable to find a permit with Daly City. The current Project List for the city is from September 2017. I'm relatively new to the community, but the hardware appears to be consistent with what I have seen on other posts. I’ve attached some photos taken this morning for the group to check out. Hopefully we can rely on what the electrician said about these being Tesla chargers.
Thanks for your post and for the excellent thread title, which I have taken the liberty of modifying. Nice work!
yep... you found a new supercharger location! @BlueShift and, it's just as foggy and thick as always! Even in the middle of August.
Thanks for providing a more accurate representation! Glad @pkodali and @Darksoldier360 were able to help verify the equipment. I went back and counted 20 white cabinets. Not sure if that means there will be 20 chargers?
Someone mentioned they are urban chargers, in which case there would be one charger per cabinet so 20 chargers
Are you sure that this is always the case? Aspen has 8 stalls but seems to have only four charger cabinets plus 3 battery cabinets: Supercharger - Aspen, CO Plus, the stalls are labeled 1A/1B. They sure seem to paired.
In the pictures I see 10 cabinets. This is consistent with 20 stalls. You mean 20 stalls/footings? Or 20 of the large white cabinets (40 stalls)
Pics only show 10 cabs which would translate to 20 chargers. I believe those are urban charger bases too, not sure on that part though
Urban chargers are paired - they simply carry a load or charging capability that is independent of the paired charger.
I believe they are paired to one 150kw unit, thus exceeding the allowed 72kw per charger. 120kw superchargers are 135kw units for two chargers, that is why the lower charge rate if one plugs in second
There were 10 on the other side of the garage as well, which I thought was a bit strange. See below for a pano shot of the garage.
My eyes aren't good enough to verify from these pics but I agree with Kuhz. If there are 20 white cabinets, there will be 40 stalls. Nice addition for an urban area!
The backends for both urban and normal superchargers are identical minus the load-sharing hardware for normal ones. I don't know why you see "135kW" listed these days, all the cabinets are 145kW. Urban's just do a clean split (Slightly easier and cheaper to wire).
