I heard a rumor they were planning a newer larger raleigh location but that was before all the stores closing stuff.
An alert NC Tesla Facebook user noticed some new construction on a potential Supercharger site in Cary: Supercharger - Cary, Nc Is this the Tesla "Durham" site? Or do we think there will be yet another site in Durham as well? I would not have thought so, but with all the surprise Superchargers popping up in the area, who knows!
I am so happy to see SC installation in Cary, NC. As any of you see on my profile, I live right next to there!!
Heh, I used to live literally around the corner from that shopping center... (bit more out in the country now).... but it seems like an SC right next to your house is the least useful place for one?
I think based on the fact that Durham has officially disappeared from the "Coming Soon" map, that we can conclude that the new Cary Supercharger is what was intended by the Durham site.
True, although I think it would be more likely that Sheetz hop on board with their own site. They seem to have a pretty good pulse on where Superchargers are needed, and the Sheetz Supercharger sites tend to just pop up without any warning on the Tesla map.
SC near the house is useful for going on a long trip and you forget to charge the night before - doh!. btw, the Sheetz on I40 in Orange county has several shiny new Electrify America stations.
I can attest to that, there are 2 close to me (Lynchburg and Madison) that are at Sheetz locations and they are still not on the map (Tesla's site future Superchargers map, that is).
It is possible to change the title of this thread to reflect the change? Maybe "Supercharger - Durham / Cary NC"?
Durham is back on the Find Us page. It says they're targeting it to open in Q2 this year, but.... we'll see. No idea on where it's going to be, so keep an eye out for permits soon. Find Us | Tesla Durham, NC | Tesla
@MarcoRP I saw you've found a number of permits for the newly announced sites on the updated Find Us page.... Any luck with putting your skills to work on this site?
Durham actually has a relatively useful online permit search capability (well, it's more useful if you know the specific area you are looking up a permit for, otherwise you have to download the entire database). I did do a search just the other day and nothing turned up, but I'll keep an eye out for it.
@RTPEV Any news on the permit search? I think the Target at Southpoint, the Sheetz on 751 (I-40 exit), or the Sheetz off 15-501 and I-85 are probably the most likely locations.
Thanks for the nudge. Was just thinking about refreshing my search just earlier today (I usually search at the beginning of the month). Nothing at all showing up except for a single residential "EV charger".
