Tesla was on the agenda for the May 2, 2019 Planning Board meeting in Elizabeth NJ: I assume the "available for all vehicles" is a misunderstanding - the rest of the description and having Tesla behind the proposal makes it clear these are superchargers. The item was also among the resolutions for the next Planning Board meeting but the minutes of the meetings are not available online. The Jersey Gardens Mall is a Simon property - they host a few other superchargers as well. 651 Kapkowski Road, Elizabeth NJ 07201
Kapkowski Road is Jersey Garden's Mall. Visible from the NJTP opposite southern end of Newark Airport not far from IKEA
Nice, this would be an awesome location, about as good as you can get for NJTPK access outside of a rest-stop.
We typically stay in the hotels across from that Mall when we fly into New Jersey (It was convenient to the Turnpike so we could visit several relatives). If they ever put superchargers in North Dakota too, maybe we can drive there instead.
Available for all vehicles may mean the signs read "Electric Vehicle Charging, General parking allowed XX Minute limit"
Saw these pics in a facebook post in the Tesla Motors club of NY/NJ. Construction is well under way. 16 stalls!! @Chuq @BlueShift
Surprised by how quick everything is done and nobody even noticed it. That’s a busy area around EWR airport and Jersey Gardens. Activating it is another story.
Robbinsvile(active) and Marlton(soon to be active) are also there outside of those atrocious 4x each NB and SB chargers in Plaza’s.
Yes sorry I meant Maple Shade. Even Deptford SC has been ready since past few months and nobody has turned on the power. Some of the utility companies around South Jersey and Philadelphia suck.
I count 16 stalls (could be more but can't be sure from those photos), and those are definitely V3 cabinets! Even though the original planning permit says 20 stalls, it also described V2 cabinet/stall arrangement which has clearly changed going by the pics, so maybe because of power constraints they went with 16 x V3 instead of 20 x V2.
I was just there and saw PSE&G there and two construction workers. In addition to these 16 stalls, there are 10 Electrify America CCS chargers (and one Chademo). No cones are blocking them, but I wasn't about to try plugging my car in to test if they were working. I made a Google Photos album of the pictures I took since the uploading here isn't working. https://photos.app.goo.gl/6EMCcbbQHEUmR91P6
@MarcoRP Based on the images above, it looks like the supercharge.info pin is located on the wrong side of the mall. It looks like it should be about here
Visiting EWR next week. Ridiculously long wait for this one just to be switched on. NJ has one of the most notorious public utility staff.
Any updates? I'm traveling this corridor weekly this summer. Have seen it on the map, status temporarily closed.... Seems VERY convenient location, as it looks easy on/off and large compared to others arpund.
