A new Supercharger is coming soon to the Miromar Outlets in Estero. The application is currently in plan review.
They are planning to 12 V3s, based on permits filed after the charger was removedI thought Gulf Coast was permanently removed?
That's impressive!! Currently on supercharge.info, it says that this one is only 8 stalls. Should this be changed to 32 stalls now or should we wait until it opens?Progress as of March 2nd - soon to be the largest V3 Supercharger in FL with 32 stalls. View attachment 775632 View attachment 775633
Its an outlet mall with many shops and restaurants so could be nice for people while they visit. Why do destination chargers make sense here?
I have never been charged to use a Destination Charger, nor have I seen one capable of billing, so this is likely being offered as a courtesy by Miromar Outlets.I wonder if the destination chargers will be free?
Gives non-Teslas a chance to be able to charge some, too, as these have J1772 plugs. Not as useful as fast chargers, but nice nonetheless. Why do destination chargers make sense here?
Interesting, I was unaware that Tesla had Level 2 chargers with J1772 plugs, at least in the US. A first step towards Tesla charging for cars with CCS plugs?Gives non-Teslas a chance to be able to charge some, too, as these have J1772 plugs. Not as useful as fast chargers, but nice nonetheless.
No, they've had them for a while. I think originally it grew out of their Destination and Workplace Charging programs, where they were providing the EVSE hardware to people for free and people wanted to have some J1772 options alongside the Tesla plugs. So Tesla started making some units with the J1772 plug. They then started installing them alongside some supercharger stations where site hosts wanted non-Tesla charging options included in the supercharger install.Interesting, I was unaware that Tesla had Level 2 chargers with J1772 plugs, at least in the US.
