So i received word back from Mark, the city manager,
Tesla and the owners of Amigos are finalizing the contract. We are expecting them to permit and begin construction very soon. From what I’ve been told, this should be open by mid-March.

That's mid-March on the Tesla calendar.
Van Horn has been sitting, finished and waiting for startup for almost that long.
Only if construction starts now, which isn't going to happen as it's not even permitted yet. And I doubt there is a construction crew sitting around waiting to start the day it's permitted.
Sorry, neglected to indicate that I was joking. Meaning that Tesla's calendar runs in a different dimension than ours.
Yeah we are not sure the reports are correct that construction has started on a Supercharger there. Until we have some pictures, there is some disagreement as to whether they might be just putting in HPWCs there. The construction cone was removed from supercharge.info.
We drove through Fatonia over the weekend to check on the super charger. We found the correct gas station (valero) but no sign at all of superchargers. Plenty of space to put them in with a huge parking lot but we drove around the whole place and didnt see anything that points towards construction starting.

The location is in the far West end of the parking lot, across from the gas pumps.
Looks like eight stalls, 7 back in and one pull in correctly oriented for trailer pulling use.
Equipment is here, all pads poured including transformer pad. No transformer, of course.

It may be that the equipment was delayed and they had workers standing around, so put up the signs. Nobody was there to ask.
Wow, that's the first I have heard of a Valero station doing that. That is a positive step. Be nice to convince Buc-ees of the benefit.
Most gas stations are franchises. Individual business owners can put whatever they want on their property.
Most of these big travel centers (and even convenience stores) don't make much off of the fuel they sell, but off of the extras. Tesla owners will be there longer than a gasoline car, so they'll spend more. Perfect fit.
There are quite a few Supercharger at travel centers, it's win-win. We have approached Beaver indirectly in several ways to get Buc-ees on board, but no response.

Obviously nobody has actually done this, but EVTP says that it is 250 rated miles if you drive the speed limit. That might be a little close for comfort for many of us.
Especially the many of us with smaller batteries.
