Update appreciated. FYI: the utility transformer (big green box) is not yet on site. It was the Tesla switching cabinet and two supercharger cabinets that were mounted on their pads in this photo.Monday (7/18 9:00 PM) update: transformers are mounted. Too dark to take pictures. It rained most of the afternoon.
Thanks for the clarification! This is the first installation that I have followed. We are back in Albany now. Charged at the YMCA and downtown while in Gloucester. It was manageable. Will be much easier next visit with the SC available.Update appreciated. FYI: the utility transformer (big green box) is not yet on site. Yes, that is interesting. I’m not sure what it is. Never seen anything like it before. What is that oversized Tesla module at the far right on the photo? Already eight regular modules in place.
Weird - never think I've seen that before. I wonder if it's some new kind of "coming soon cover" set that are put over the pedestals pending commissioning? A little hard to tell from that photo. What is that oversized Tesla module at the far right on the photo? Already eight regular modules in place.

Total stab in the dark, I’m gonna say it’s a conversion kit for existing SC to gain dual cables for Tesla and non-Tesla charging. If it’s a snap on type sheath over and existing pedestal it sure would be a cheap and fast way to retrofit any existing site. What is that oversized Tesla module at the far right on the photo? It looks like they are still missing a big green box.View attachment 833103
Update: 7/26/22 looks to be all cleaned up and all the construction equipment is gone.
I haven't seen another install that shared a transformer. This could be the 1st for me.Do they need another “green” box? The trench leads up to a transformer on the side of the adjacent building. I assumed they would connect their given they dug the trench to that box.
They are just tapping the primary at the existing transformer on the side of the building. A new transformer is definitely required for the superchargers and will go on the empty pad visible in the photos.I haven't seen another install that shared a transformer. This could be the 1st for me.
No sign of a supercharger permit yet for the Newton, MA 128 rest area - just the original DCFC permit to get the power to the site.It would be nice if they now move on to Newton, MA!
Nothing nearby - I would use plugshare to find them. There are about 10 7kw L2's at the YMCA next to Gloucester Crossing if that helps. Please, please, please…. Let them finish this in the next two weeks!!!!!
Fingers crossed.
Curiously are there any actual CSS chargers in the vicinity?
