I am creating this thread to encourage the existence of a Grand Island, Nebraska supercharger. There have been rumors of plans, the existence of a Ruby Tuesday seems to indicate a possible location, but nobody has tracked down anything yet. Good luck, Nebraskans and travelers of I-80!
I would take any of the above. It's nice to have Gothenburg and Ogallala to open that western corridor..but if you can't get to it.. I heard Kearney was the proposed location a while back. If you're in Kearney and know something about this please post here.
Hey, just found something: NE Grand Island I-80 8 Reportedly under construction 11/2/2016 Goto: Supercharger Progress There is also a reference to Kearney. So I wonder who reported it under construction?
What you "found" is why this thread exists. But the Google+ post has disappeared. My guess is that the poster was associated with a contractor involved in construction of the superchargers, and Tesla told him to stop. Now we have nothing until somebody actually finds a permit or a construction site or something.
I called the Hall County (Grand Island is in Hall County) Building Permits Department just now and was told no permits have been applied for, by Tesla. (308) 385-5293 is their phone number. Too bad. GI would be a perfect location to bridge the Ogallala / Council Bluffs gap.
There will shortly be no such gap. The gap will be Lincoln / Gothenburg when existing construction is complete. Much smaller. Also, it looks to me as though Grand Island issues its own permits.
We live near Grand Island and we haven't seen any signs of a Supercharger. We haven't went out of our way to look though either. Tomorrow or after Thanksgiving would be the only time I would have time to go out and look.
My father took a look around Dothan Kearney today but didn't see anything at the Holiday Inn Express or Ruby Tuesday. I'll have him check the Hy-Vee but it's a lot farther north.
drove around the Hy vee area and didn't see anything. Hoping there is still something somewhere happening.
Would seem really weird to put a Supercharger on an island. Especially when the population is only ~50,000.
Congrats on finding the location -- it took only two weeks from when I created the thread. Send the physical address to blueshift and it will appear on supercharge.info.
3335 W Wood River Rd, Grand Island, NE 68803 thank goodness you created it, otherwise is may have never happened. Here is the address. please take care of the details. thanks
