Friend was there yesterday and it was marked as "reduced service" on the in car nav although plenty of people were charging. He reported low charge rates ~40kw however. Some of the stalls have been removed while others are still operating.

Thanks for your post. That photo certainly clarifies the situation. I have updated the thread title.

Got a photo from a friend earlier before the Y unveil. Looks like some of them (the ones with the covers) are v3. My friend said that there were signs indicating they were v3 at the Y event today.

Yes, last night at the Model Y unveil Elon said that the new V3 Superchargers were at this location. But that photo shows covers on them with a label indicating they are not operational yet.

They were fully operational last night. I watched them in action. The engineer even stated that the city of hawthorne pushed their permits thru to have them active for the event.

So they were available as a one off, now covered up again?

I notice permits were mentioned before - had a quick look on the City of Hawthorne website but can't immediately see where to look...

The tesla rep I spoke with said he was the project manager for these chargers. When I asked about immediate public usage, he wasn't able to give me much of a timeline but suggested that these chargers would probably be used as a company development/testing site (at least initially) and would be opened to the public later. He then said that I wouldn't want to charge here after that because he expects the line to be too long for them once they are opened to the public lol.

Thanks for the photo. So 4 existing pedestals were removed and replaced with two new V3 pedestals. That’s odd. Will those two new pedestals be able to handle 4 cars at once? That does not seem possible based on the layout. It seems like there is now some wasted space in that area.
Stopped by today.
Two new ones are still covered. Didn't notice any changes to the rest of the stalls.

Lol what?
My guess is no, you won’t be able to plug in 4 cars with 2 plugs, the math just doesn’t work
