There is massive trenching and large cabinets still in packaging clearly visible from I5 south. There appears to be additional utility work across the street @ Jeffery and Walnut.
Being that 5406 Walnut Ave, #A and #C, include the two Asian restaurants in the east corner of the strip mall, I figured the chargers might be placed in those dozen or so parking spaces that face Jeffrey by the 5 Fwy. And, sure enough, staging has started at that very corner. Progress. Ditto to other comments about this often being a hectic center. Not only is this an older center with tight aisles, but there are a ton of Teslas in this area.
Ewww. That is a horrible location. It takes like 10 minutes during peak lunchtime just to get back there. Might be good for after-hours or odd hours. I guess I might relieve some congestion for Santa Ana and hopefully, the other Irvine location will balance this loadout. There are a lot of Tesla in the neighborhood. The 99 Ranch Plaza on Culver would've been a better choice. It is busy during peak hours too, but much larger plaza with many in and out traffic flow. The Albertson by Jeffery would've been a better choice too. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers. The Sichuan restaurant by that corner is pretty good, by the way.
Someone spotted this at the existing Irvine Supercharger (I think). Could this be referring to 24 stalls total in 2 separate locations? Methinks it may also be referring to the Supercharger on Main St.
Of course it will be busy. And of course it will be good to have these additional Superchargers compared to not having them. So I’m glad to see this new location under construction!
Beside the location is always busy, it is also not a safe site. Maybe is due to the close access to the 5fwy, that plaza had numerous robbery and break in. My relative operates the Sichuan restaurant and a close friend with the optometry store, and hear of other horror stories at the bakery and bookstore. My relative was robbed after closing and the optometry had 2 break-in, Irvine PD is not able to close the cases yet.
Moderator note: This post and the two following were moved from the thread relating a different Supercharger planned for Irvine, CA. Confirmed super charger and not urban. And it will be at ranch 99. The Starbucks ones are css. Hopefully they are 250 V3 chargers.
I believe that's a picture of the superchargers going in at 99 Ranch, but that is a different location. This thread is about a location one exit along the 5 north of there at Walnut & Culver in the shopping center with the Ralphs and CVS. The thread discussing the superchargers at the 99 Ranch location (@ Walnut & Jeffery): Supercharger - Irvine, CA - Walnut Ave. (under construction 8 Sep 2020)
correct. I believe that was the one I was posting in. But mod moved it here. So confusing. But I guess not many cities have 4 locations...
That picture showing Tesla chargers is the best news I've heard so far this week. By looking at the picture, maybe a few weeks away? The current location (Michelson) in Irvine is always packed, and this one needs to open asap.
I noticed these from the 5 Freeway. Always happy to see more SCs being built, but I have a feeling the lines are not going to be fun at this one given only 8 stalls.
Worse, the parking lot that one will have to drive through to get to these stalls is always super-busy. These will be difficult to access just because of local traffic.
