Weird... There's such a big hole to the west, near Olean. And, there's the Seneca Casino near Olean - a much easier place to get a SC set up. I'm west of Ithaca (Naples, NY) and the Corning SC is just fine to use if I'm headed that way. I guess if you head east on 86, you get a lot of options. Head west, and you're pretty much limited to heading a little north to get to Eastern Hills mall. Doesn't make a lot of sense...
Actually, that one's been on the "coming soon" map for a long time. I've searched through the town's on-line database and not found any mention of it, however.
There's a Coming Soon at Salamanca, which is right where the Seneca Allegany casino happens to be. I wouldn't doubt we will see one there before long. I was told 2018 by someone at one point. Has anyone done any scouting around Ithaca? I am trekking up there later this Summer from Pittsburgh, and it sure would be nice to have both of these in place!
I'm headed right passed that casino tomorrow afternoon. I've already been planning to take a look. I will definitely be a frequent charger at that location and can't wait.. Now, I have to trek all the way up to Eastern Hills Mall (in the greater Buffalo area) for a top-off.
any updates on this one?! i am looking forward to it for trip to the finger lakes. The area is bare for superchargers, we need one!
Or their parents. Lots of folks complaining about not having charging at WSU Pullman WA so I’m guessing this would be similar.
It’s an active area. Really need to get the supercharger going here. Once there is one here you can cover both lakes around Cayuga easily.
Any news on the Ithaca site? With college students and family in the area we are up there all the time. We usually charge in Binghamton on the way up and that holds us until we hit Binghamton on the way home, but sometimes is cutting it close.
There is nothing yet and no permit in progress. Come on Tesla. We need more to enjoy the finger lakes!
Was just there past weekend. Had to find J1772 public charger in state park. I believe it was where Lucifer Falls is.
It won't be easy to find a good location in Ithaca. The only locations near big substations are really desolate. Locations you'd want to go to aren't car-oriented. The car-oriented strip is practically controlled by a single enormous auto dealership. Best choice would probably be Wegmans, but I don't think they've ever worked with Tesla.
So glad to find this thread, though unfortunate that we're still waiting for real progress to occur. To those on the ground there, please keep us updated - we'd love to organize an "official" opening ceremony to celebrate!
I honestly don't know if this site is ever going to appear. It's been on the "coming soon" map for a long time, but there's nothing in the Ithaca planning board notes about it. It may be that they'd actually put it in the Triphammer area in Lansing - that's where the malls are. Check out Plugshare if you're in the area and need to charge. There are actually a lot of L2 chargers around, including at a lot of the state parks, downtown parking garages, and on the Cornell campus.
Does anyone know why Supercharge.info just listed Ithaca NY as under construction (usually reserved for evidence of construction/Tesla equipment), but the link to “discuss” is a broken one, and there’s no discussion here of it being under construction?
Yeah, no idea. I'd say there's a ~75% chance of it being legit though because if you zoom in on the parking lot where they placed the pin there's a Panera Bread there.
